I saw the giver but I had the idea from an italian song ( Pleasantville by Nitro, if you want to listen to it 
) that starts with the sentence : “Vorrei un mondo in bianco e nero come Pleasantville” (I’d like a world in black and white like Pleasantville ) “dove I colori non li vedo e posso accenderli” ( where I can’t see the colors but I can light them up). I love the film though
