You are right… I stopped reading mafia stories a while ago, because you always see the same plot again and again.

I think it depends on how we’re brought up because at that age, I knew mafia men aren’t hot or nice and that dating one wasn’t going to end well, but I still enjoy reading an action, drama story.

Like reading mafia was a phase now it’s comedy and then next week will be mafia again 
I would never support the mafia in real life, what they do is sick, but like reading them are really exciting and interesting.

Oh, I totally agree… Most of the mafia-bosses are not hot and sweet either. What they do in their real life is not my taste either. Of course it’s exciting and interesting to read mafia stories, but if you read the same plot again, again and again in different stories. It will get be boring.

Oh, yeah of course… There is always a crazy ex, who slept with the big boss one time and immediately ended up pregnant… I am not judging… But I am out too if I read that in a story.
Lately, I am done with a story easily 
Especially when a mean girl or crazy ex starts turns up, because they want to driven the couple apart.

Yeah… I am not going to spoil the end… But the writer ended season 1 of ‘The Devil in Disguise’ and is going to make a sequel for it.

@Liz_Mar.episode, I agree. Not only don’t I like mafia stories, but they are boring for the most part. The first mafia story I read was Chain Reaction (of course, right?), and I found it pretty boring. Then I got back into it and my opinion still hasn’t changed. I don’t understand the appeal in these stories—the mafia leader is usually rude when you first meet him, he has a tattoo (of course), and mafia leaders in general are awful people. If it weren’t for Miss Mj and her Chain Reaction series (along with other series, which in total has to equal around 300 episodes), the stories on the shelf would be much more appealing (to me, at least).

I didn’t meant to offend you in any way… But it wasn’t clear to me. I just was asking. But it’s a bit off topic. We are talking about mafia-stories and not about picking genders. But I agree about that I would like to see more stories where you can pick more genders.
@Audacious_Writer I totally agree with you. The storyline in those mafia stories looks all the same to me.

True. And what’s the deal with the mafia always being in New York? In that case, the mafia should be American instead of Italian. Why not set the Italian mafia in—oh, Idk—Italy?! What’s so hard about that?

I wrote three mafia stories (not published yet) and I’m afraid of people not reading my stories just because of the “mafia” label… or worse, that they just read the stories hoping that the LI is a bad boy gangster.
I’m from Latin America and gangs/mafias are a huge problem here, I’ve lost friends and close people because of this. I tried my best to not glorify criminals but I gave them an opportunity to leave that life behind.
I’m not hating or anything like that, I like mafia stories and I’ve read many, but the real gangsters are not like the hot LI that you like. Most of the time they don’t have morals and that leads to them doing horrible things. I know the difference between fiction and reality but sometimes I’m worried for the teenagers that don’t realize that.

As you can see from most of our opinions of not liking these types of stories, we claim that the mafia storylines are not realistic. If you could portray the true dangers of mafia and actually make them face consequences, we might have a change of heart. It’s okay for you to be worried, but you don’t have to be. You might be the one to save us from this mafia cliche mess.
