Opinions on Spotlight Stories

Basically, what the title says.

I can’t decide between having a Spotlight story or a Cinematic one. I think both are nice but Cinematic ones get a lot of reads because of the directing, etc.

I like both tbh, but surely the one that requires less work is spotlight. Or you could do a mix.

Hm… I was thinking about mixing both of the formats…

I think I have read a total of 4 spotlight stories, and that was a part of the spotlight on love contest. I honestly don’t like the format. I read on episode due to the cinematic format. It’s what distinguishes episode from other platforms.
It’s not just how the character isn’t in full body view and things aren’t animated, it’s how the characters swap in and out of the screen. Back and forth conversations give you a headache with the characters constantly popping up and down.
There’s actually one story I’ve been wanting to read, and have tried several times, but can’t get past chapter 1 because it’s in spotlight.
It’s really a manner of preference, but that’s my opinion.

That is true, lol.

well idk but i prefer the cinematic because you know where is character is and what he’s doing and stuff the cinematic one is more basic but i don’t want to say for beginners. i am writing my first story and thought about doing it the spotlight version but then i was like i want the reader to know who’s in the background rather than a single background and people popping in the cinematic one you can zoom and its more free

The popping up is weird, now that I think about it…

It’s totally up to you, but I’d recommend writing in cinematic… Unless the idea you have is right for spotlight. Because I do think the right plot can benefit from spotlight, but if it’s not the right type of story, it’s like shooting yourself in the foot

yes exactly you never know when the character enters the scene and it is not nice for every character that enters to write:
John enters the scene
yeah that’s it lol
