Opinions on The Black Death Returning

So, the Black Death has supposedly returned in the state of California. What’s your thoughts on it?

10/10 title lmaoooo.

-Pushes up nerd glasses- Acktchually, it isn’t Black Death, it’s Typhus. Black Death is caused by the bacterium Yersinia Pestis, while Typhus is caused by a few bacteria such as Rickettsia prowazekii, Orientia tsutsugamushi, and Rickettsia typhi.

Still, though, both are transmitted by rodents and caused by overall poor hygiene and public sanitation.

The rules of the forums require that I don’t make any comment about homelessness in cities in America and how its healthcare and public sanitation are now quite literally going Medieval. So I won’t say anything. I said nothing. You have no proof.

Typhus, as a bacterium, is generally simple enough to treat with antibiotics. But still, seems like one of those things we thought we were done with. One of those diseases where they carried the children to the hospital in carriages while snow blew across the open country fields.

Well Yikes :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

I wouldn’t say it’s returned. It’s always been here. There tends to be a few cases each year, without much media attention. Why is it newsworthy all of a sudden? Who knows. I wouldn’t worry just yet. Maybe the media have run out of stories and are trying to pass off something that has been happening for many years as something new and horrifying. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Good thing I still have my Trinidad passport and L.A is a pretty decent distance from Long Island.

wow, now this is scary. Just searched it up and im…shocked.

honestly a lot of people got it bc the people back then were very unhygienic and with modern medicine/scientists i dont think i’m that worried. also it didnt exactly “return” it has always been with us.
