Opinions on the Writers Payment

Okay so, I originally started working on Episode a few years ago when I was 13 just for the fun of it but then I like somehow started getting good at coding and then was complimented as an “advanced coder”.

I was like okayyyyyy maybe I should set a goal to unlock the writers payment. I wanted to achieve this goal because my parents are completely against me writing stories all the time (they rather have me as a doctor or nurse) and I wanted to show them I can make my writing go somewhere. For example: getting paid for it. I know the whole writers payment update is ALMOST old news but I’m like heavily upset about it.

What are your thoughts? What were your goals?

I’d say write if writing is what you want to do, go for it. Episode may keep moving the finish line out of reach, however, but don’t let that stop you. Every story makes you better.

Girl, do what makes you happy, because respectfully, they are not the ones who has to live with your life decisions, if you want to write and get payed, I say chase the bag sis.

I agree with @GRH and @Matawrites also prove your parents wrong that you can do this writer is your passionate you deserve to make money on it even though episode will take longer I believe it’s worth it at the end.

:roll_eyes::pensive::pensive::pensive: Not everyone wants be those careers…

:pleading_face::pleading_face::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage: That makes me mad wish people wouldn’t be like this ughh…

Don’t let them get to you. Let this keep motivated you more I mean I know their being negative about you wanting to be an writing you got keep going be determined who cares what they think they don’t control your life or your decision they can’t decide your future only you can. Let the negative be the motivation yes there not supportful but don’t let it stop you watch when you make it big. It will happen

I think they’re worried that you won’t make enough writing stories… since that’s what parents do. They want to make sure you can make a good living. But if you really want to continue, I’d say go for it! You should do it if it makes you happy (:

Tbh, write bc u love it :heartbeat:

As a hobby, not a career. In a sense, ur parents r correct. Episode pays v little even for writers w hundreds of millions of reads. But… it is a good way to launch a writing career, I guess. But I think u shouldn’t care abt the writers payments bc basically all the authors who do well do it bc it’s their passion. :relaxed:

I say you should go for it if it’s what you really want, but make sure you do not let it impact your relationship with your family too much because it will impact your home life, your mood, perhaps your health and ultimately impact your writing too.
From what I’ve heard, dedicating weeks or even a month or so solely to writing and updating on a regular basis is what may help with getting a shot into writer payments which is grueling, demanding and has no guarantee of success.

It’s also not something that’s going to be hugely supportive anyway (financially) unless you’re consistently getting millions of reads + many gems spent on your story. The upside is that it’s a great achievement and once you’re in, you’re in and you will earn some money for your hard work.

I also wanted to say that there are other ways to earn money too, if you’re artistically inclined, you can charge money for commissions, if you’re 3D inclined, you can charge patrons for access to your backgrounds and overlays. You can also charge patrons or fees for extra content that isn’t on Episode if your story is doing well like bonus scenes, other POVs, mature scenes, deleted scenes etc. You can create pages where your supporters can donate, and don’t forget – there’re other interactive apps that are more willing to pay their writers too, so if achieving Episode’s writer payment criteria ever looks too unreachable or no longer remains your goal at some point, just remember there are other ways to earn. :relaxed:

I wish you luck with your goal and I hope you achieve it! :blob_hearts:

Omg this was the best one. Thank you so much. You just made me realize I’m letting this all into my head without looking after myself. I was too caught up with wanting to prove something.

Again thank you so much for your kind words! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

No problem! The writer’s payment will always be waiting for you, and you can choose to go for it whenever, but your family, as well as yourself require your love and attention too especially because futures are never guaranteed.

I wish you luck with whatever avenue you pursue and happiness for you and your family.
