Can anyone help me with my overlay? When I review it , it constantly has the 0.2 second pop up before being place and I don’t know the coding to stop that.
Sorry, but could you explain that a little better in detail?
Im guessing you mean because its popping up after the scene started? If this is the case dont freak out its an easy fix. You have to code it beside your background:
Ex:
Int- kitchen- day with (overlay name goes here) to (insert the size and spot for overlay here)
Does that make sense lol?
If you want your overlay to be in the scene at the very beginning, add it with the background name like this
INT. BACKGROUND - DAY with OVERLAY NAME
You can read more on that here: https://www.dara-amarie.com/overlays-guide
Or if you just want to keep using the overlay commands, just make sure you use the & sign for those commands and they need to be at the very beginning of your scene. You will need to add “in 0” at the end of the scales, shifts, and opacity commands
INT. BACKGROUND
&overlay OL NAME create
&overlay OL NAME opacity 1 in 0
&overlay OL NAME shifts to 0 0 in zone # in 0
&overlay OL NAME scales to 1.0 1.0 in 0
Thank you for replying!
Thank you very much for the help!
Like if I have an overlay set to a spot when I review it on mobile it pops up for 0.2 seconds then goes into place
Oh, okay
In that case, you can do what the others suggested or make it fade in. There are a few different methods, but this is how I fade in mine:
@overlay OVERLAYNAME create
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.1 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.2 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.3 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.4 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.5 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.6 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.7 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.8 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 0.9 in 0.1
@overlay OVERLAYNAME opacity 1 in 0.1
Thank you for the help it mean’s a lot since this my first story!
I will take the advices.
