Hey I’m making a story and had a question. Which guidelines should you stick to with directing? Phone guidelines , tablet guidelines or both?

I usually stick with the phone guidelines, because most people (over 90%) use phones to read stories. I think if you stick to one, it gives you more freedom.

I dont see a problem to adjust it to tablet - I make it so its nice for phone but check that the choices, speachbubbles and heads or important parts of the scene are visible to tablet users too.
