So on the character editing screen, you’ll see the link has numbers following the character’s name. Copy those numbers and put them in brackets to show point amounts for that character.
Okay thanks, I’ll test it out later, once I have added in my points choices and let you know if I come across any issues as I might need help, this is the first time I’m using the points system.
Just like @Winteronepisode said, first you have to copy the end numbers of the url when you are editing the character. Make sure you copy the number for the character to whom you are adding the points. Next you have to write like this: NARR You have [characternumber here] points.
Make sure you give the square brackets [#] around the number.
Okay, but I’m still confused. This is my first time trying to add in the points system. do I need to get those numbers as well as using this bit of script I found on another thread:
NARRATOR
Do you want to check your points (say for MAEVE)
If(MAEVE=0){
NARRATOR
0 points
}elif(MAEVE>1){
NARRATOR
1 point
}elif(MAEVE >2){
NARRATOR
MAEVE =2
}
Or do I only need to do one? And I also don’t get where I would even need to add those numbers? What do you mean I need to add them during the editing process?
First, go to characters tab of your story where you can edit your character’s hair, skin, body, etc. There you will see in the address bar of the website certain numbers (which I’ve highlighted for you in the above screen shot.) choose the character (eg: Maeve) from the side panel and then copy the numbers for Maeve.
Next go to your script and paste the numbers within square brackets [#].
For example here my character is named YOU and her character number is 5249553403674624.
I have been adding points to this chartacter and want to show the readers the points in a narration bubble. So I write: NARRATOR You have [5249553403674624] points.
This will display the points scored by the reader.
If you have any more doubts feel free to ask.
You have to make 2 characters named GOOD and BAD first. Then you can copy their numbers.
You should write @BAD +1 for bad choices and @GOOD +1 for good choices.
Next you can create a point checking system at the end of each chapter like authors have FAQ section. You can write:
label checkpoints
NARR
Select the points you want to check. (or type whatever you want in the dialogue)
choice “Good Points” {
NARR
You have [characternumber of GOOD here] points.
goto checkpoints
} “Bad Points” {
NARR
You have [characternumber of BAD here] points.
goto checkpoints
} “Done” {
continue
}
