Place the character off screen.
So example:

You want the character to run in/to a spot?
cen you please explain in more detail what do you want?
because yu kinda mentioned 3 things in one
run into scene
first walk than run
run on spot (not moving just making the run animation)
so what from it you need?
Well i want the character to run into scene, and this is what i do
INT. AUDITION STAGE - DAY
@pan to zone 2
&ALEXIS enters from left to screen center
&ALEXIS is run_jog
&NOAH enters from left to screen left
&NOAH is run_athletic
But i want him to chase after her and its not working

I guess you want them on the stage?
For this you actually need spot directing.

&ALEXIS walks to spot 0.920 223 214 in zone 2 in 2 AND ALEXIS does it while run_jog
&NOAH walks to spot 0.965 87 217 in zone 2 in 2 AND NOAH does it while run_athletic
@pause for 0.5 THEN pan to zone 2 in 1.5
