I was part of the initial gem choice beta and one of the things that was mentioned is that we should be including gem choices which add value to the story. There’s even the option to report gem choices that are low quality and to me, clicking a button that gives you no additional content is low quality. (However, it was mentioned in one of the posts that doing this is allowed, so as long as the reader realises they’re not getting any bonus content, I don’t think this is something you can report.)
Of course, some people probably won’t mind since most people can’t see the gems anyway, but I’d personally rather “pay” for a bonus scene or to top my points up after I make bad choices
