Racial representation in entertainment industry. Opinion for discussion

The left lost their mind once and said Bruno Mars was cultural appropriating.

Bruno Mars doesn’t appropriate cultures. Have heard it and he doesn’t.

I agree that he doesn’t. But the left lost their mind once and said that he was. XDXD

I get what you are saying and it is mostly white people but other can equally appropriate a culture. Like a Asian wearing a Sari without knowing the meaning behind it and a Black person wearing a Kimono without knowing the meaning behind it.

WHERE IS CYBORG??? He is the best character in Teen Titans! I AM UPSET

I’m not sure I can agree with this whole thing being important, if a person just doesn’t know the meaning. If he mocks the culture while using it - sure. I agree. But without knowing…

Braids and other African hair styles have a lot of cultural meaning and had impacted out history. An example as when African kids would have to separate from their parents and travel far miles, they braided food into their kids hair so they can have something to eat.

We don’t want white people to be ashamed for being white, just acknowledge what their ancestors have done and what they still do in society.

YES! I’m kinda getting annoyed about everyone mentioning history. You are not your ancestors, you are completely different people.

Everyone acknowledges. It’s called knowing your history. We know what they did, but we didn’t do it. The best we can is to extract a lesson from our history and move on onto better future.

Yes, anyone can do it. But it’s not the same as a white person who does it. People have this notion that when white people do something they do it to mock others or be cool. If a white person wears braids they’re stealing culture and if they do nae-nae they want to be “black” which means cool. Anytime white people do anything it’s scrutinized.

The reason black people feel like their hair is important to them is because back in the day natural hair wasn’t pretty or cute. Black people needed perms but in modern times people wear braids afros and when white people do it it’s like, “you oppressed me and told me this wasn’t right. Now you want bask in the glory?” Not all white people are responsible for what most white people do. But nowadays some people just want someone to blame.

Knowing the meaning of a cultural piece is important. They have important meaning. Wearing it without knowing the cultural meaning is messed up to the people who wear it because of their traditions and ancestry.

The only white people ashamed for being white are cucks. White people gotta stop feeling sorry for themselves and treating black people like little pets that need protection.

ANYWAYS, gonna try to stay on topic now. I think it is pretty messed up to be erasing Cyborg from Teen Titans. Like…super important character! So what Robin is a hacker, we need Victor-y in anything with Teen Titans. He adds so much personality and flavor to the Titan tower. He had some stereotypical black in him, and it was awesome. Like. EMBRACE
