Ranking? How does it workšŸ’€

Okay soo. My story had reached the 108th rank (until a few minutes ago) and now the 121st :sweat_smile:. The ranking is basically showing in the trending section of each category, right? :sweat_smile:

Iā€™ve read it but itā€™s just too many words for my brain to process. As soon as I think Iā€™ve understood it, my mind just goes ā€œwell sh*tā€ :sweat_smile:

The more gems are spent on your story the higher your rank will be.
If you want your rank higher you would need to add gem choices.

Oh I did. I got 24 gems in 10 hours. :dancer:t5::turtle: But I read on the official thread that if a story has letā€™s say 20 reads in 15 minutes and my story has 15 reads in 15 minutes, the other story has higher rank, right? Or has that changed because of the new updated ranking system? I should keep up with stuff. :ok_woman:

Im not sure if the time wise matters like occasionally my story is like 300th place and then with just 1 gen choice itā€™ll boost it to 75 and then thatā€™s when it gets on the feed and people can visibly see it and then if others spend gems itā€™ll get lower and lower (which is a good thing)

So once youā€™re on the leaderboard, and readers spend gems, your rank lowers? :ok_woman:

Or is it like compared to the other stories on the leaderboard?

I donā€™t believe itā€™s compared to the other stories itā€™s just the gems that matter. The more gems that are spent the higher your rank will be. (Thatā€™s what happens for me atleast)

I can relate. I donā€™t think any of us know 100% how the ranking system works, but it does take into account your reads, and the amount of gems spent on your story. There is a ratio of some sort that comes into play. I also think reader retention plays a part too for memory.

The trending for each genre only displays about 200 stories I think, and the top ones have to be reviewed (not sure if the top 100 or more). Your rank in the app and in the portal may not always match though, but Iā€™ve heard your portal rank is the most accurate and sometimes it can take up to an hour or more for it to update in the app.

Ah okay. My rank in the portal currently shows 121 in the romance genre and 230 in the overall genre. But when a couple minutes ago it was 108 and I couldnā€™t find it on the app and I was like ā€œsikeā€ :sweat_smile: but at this point Iā€™m more than happy. From 65k to 230. *Self-appreciation :full_moon_with_face:

The trending section somtimes acts bizarre. The rankings change in seconds and it all depends on various factors as mentioned by others.
