well, i would do some research online. but here’s what i THINK would most likely happen or what SHOULD happen:
they should call for an ambulance rather than taking the victim the the hospital, since the latter can be dangerous. ambulances have the necessary equipment to take the victim to the hospital.
the police would ask for a statement from the mc, but make sure the mc doesn’t admit fault. that includes apologizing and frantically trying to convince the police that you are innocent. after that, the mc should talk to a criminal defense attorney and then report the incident to their insurance advisor. sometimes in america, the person could get charged for jaywalking, so they basically are put at fault for the situation.
also, be sure that your mc wasn’t doing anything bad before the crime. for example, they shouldn’t be drunk. that could cause even more legal trouble.
usually, an injured victim would file a lawsuit based on the theory of negligence. but a case against the victim could be something called contributory negligence. this is basically when the victim is also at fault, and this could reduce or even take away their reward.
this would be the best way to not get arrested in real life, but most people wouldn’t know this off the top of their head😅
edit: but there’s more to think about in real life. things like an injury claim, etc.
