Are any horror stories worth reading? And I mean, without ghosts or some magical creature chasing the MC.

the Shadows by @/cc_episodewriter is amazing 
(its a scifi story too)
also Mystery on Hanging Hill Lane by @/Marshmallow_O is good too, but its more of a thriller/mystery than horror-- u should still check it out though
