Questions about the updated 10/10/19 community guidelines that I have before releasing.
1. Course language
Episode allows course language to occur in stories as long as their not racist or sexist. But if words such as, fuck,shit,bitch are allowed. What is the limit for them in a episode?
2. Sexual interactions for children under the age of 16
Now of course lots of teenagers in the world are involved in sexual activities but this isn’t allowed to be shown in episode stories other than kissing,dating,or crushes. Nothing could be sexually intense for characters under 16, but what about if it’s a flashback? And also, could the characters be involved in sexual interactions such as, (For Example) You’re aloud to be sexual in stories at 16 and 3 months but not 15 and 11 months. Is that the case or is it just completely off limits for the of age 16 and under?
3. Gang references/drug use
The guidelines say that Gang references and drug use can’t be romanticised but could be mentioned. Obviously for my story that I’m working on, the love interest isn’t really in a gang but their family is. The gang violence eventually stops, and I wouldn’t be putting it in a view were gang violence seems like a fun romantic theme since I’m creating it to be in a bad point of view. But would it be alright to reference it a lot? Yet again, I’m not putting a drug type of gang violence into a romantic light. I’m putting it into a affecting and dangerous light. Something you should stay away from. But would it really be okay if I talk about gang violence and drug use a lot? (Not in a descriptive form)
Curse words like shit, fuck., are not allowed at all, but can be used unlimited if are censured: sht, fck…
Sex is not allowed at all, kissing is. Characters may not be naked. From the scene itself readers can assume there’s sex going on, but keep it in limits I mentioned. Minors can get a hug and a cheek kiss.
these words have to be censored with asteriks (*). It’s explained very clearly.
This was absolutely never allowed even before the October update. I don’t know why think i’s appropriate to show sexual interactions with childern on a 13+ app
There is no mention about gangs in the content guidelines so I’m not sure what you mean by this, there are specifictions about violence. Drugs again it’s very clear, no depictions/descriptions of hard drugs, no propmotion of drug use. There are lots of stories on the app with gangs, but there is a limit to how much violence can be depicted and described.
Thank you for the info, yes by gang I did mean violence. With the sexual interactions I meant not actual sex. Just making out and innocent flirting. I know the rule about sex for underage wasn’t allowed along with sexual descriptions. But I thought the update meant no kissing or touching or romance In general. Apologises for not describing it well.
I wouldn’t call kissing and flirting “sexual interaction” they are romantic ones, which of course is allowed. The app thrives on romance so they cannot ban that on any level. Non-sexual romance is allowed in all cases
