The 1920’s were a time or exploration and fashion! Women started showing their calfs, corests were (partially) taken off, hair was shortened. but there were very strict rules on what they could and cound’t wear
Hemline
The hemline was usually under the knee but if a woman was a dancer or prostitute the hemline was above the knee
Hairstyles
Short hair was fashionable but not every women had short hair
Long Hair
Also hair was never messy unless the woman was trying to be scandalous the hair was usally tied up or curled
Figure
The ideal figure was boyish and flat plus size women would use corsets or breast binders to look smaller there wasn’t really body shaming for plus size women who used binders the body shaming came in the 1930’s when the hourglass silhouette was popular
Underwear
Remember when I said corsets were partially thrown away well busty women wore binding corsets that removed curves instead of accentuating them but in the later half of the decade the bra was invented. The corsets were made to go over camiknickers and the bra was to be paired with tap shorts
Maternity
Dresses were so loose that you could only see the pregnancy from the side and women wore corsets to hide the bump
Do's and Dont's
Do's
The dress is the right length and her hat is perfect
Turtleknecks were good to cover the chest
She’s wearing stocking and her dress is the right length also her head is covered with a silk cloth
Headband is accurate and so is the hemline
Bump is properly hidden and hemline is right
