Should I add 4 love interests in one story ? There're some things that make my very hesitant

I’m working on a story with LGBT option.
At first I planned to add 2 LIs in my story, then I want readers to have more diverse experience of the characters so I added 2 more LIs. There are 2 male LIs and 2 female LIs in my story. Each LIs has a different personality, I hope readers can choose LIs with the personalities they like most and suitable for them.
But is this really necessary ? I mean usually in 1 story there should be 1 or 3 LIs, if I add 4 LIs, it’s pretty much and readers may not like this.
So should I keep 4 LIs in the same story or divide them into 2 different stories ?
Would you read a story with 4 LIs of diverse personalities ?
Please give me some advice. Thank you so much !

By the sounds of it, you’re adding LIs only for more options. If you could easily pluck and rotate them out of the story with no repercussions on the plot, there’s no point in them existing at all. Make them characters before you think of making them LIs.

I think it’s a good idea to do 4 LIs. I always like a story with more options on who I can be with. It helps because if you can’t fill up an episode then you can use quite alot of lines to get to know the LIs better.

If all 4 LIs have different personalities and character development, then yes. If their personalities are protecting the mc and being jealous, then no.

If there is not enough content to fill an episode, then the episode isn’t over yet. Period. Filing it with bachelor-style meet’n’greets is only to pad out the runtime and will get dry real fast.

The LIs that I have decided to add are certain that their appearance will have a certain influence on the plot, I don’t want my LIs to simply be options for readers, they are also like open doors lead readers to different levels of emotion in my story and each LIs has their own world for readers to explore. Anyway I am very grateful for your advice ^^ Thank you so much !

My MC is a type of person who is strong and doesn’t depend on others, she knows how to fight and protect herself so the personalities of the LIs doesn’t have to protect her and jealous ^^ I am very grateful for your advice. Thank you so much !

Haha even though I write a story with a lot of LIs, I personally like to read stories with 1 LIs :joy: :joy: :joy:. Maybe I will try to write a story with 1 LI in the future. Thanks for your honesty !
