I don’t really think about WHEN to introduce, more like HOW to introduce them. But I think it’s fine to introduce them in the first chapter, just as long it’s done well. And by well I mean not saying ”this is the love interest” not that anyone actually does that and like the introducing is fluent with the script.
But also later on is fine too. Just not too late.
