No I don’t mean the pregnancy stories.
I’m sick of reading a good romance story and then the MC ends up pregnant or the MC and the LI finally end up together but then LI’s ex ends up pregnant. It makes my blood boil and I stop reading the story all together. I’m so tired of authors not being creative enough and
using pregnancy as drama
Lmaoooo ikr, and most people literally make the pregnancies so unrealistic, if people don’t know what a pregnancy really is like, then don’t write about it, I mean yes all pregnancies are different but most of them are written so badly, and that is what makes my blood boil too
Let’s not forget that once all the drama already happened, it turns out that the LI ex was just saying it’s the LI child but it turns out it wasn’t
I know right. It gets so annoying. I can literally guess on oh she pregnant but it’s not his. It’s so over used. Lol. I mean sometimes it’s fine but need more content.
I got to that point where I was like “don’t worry it’s not his kid tho” and then I just stop reading at some point
Lol same.
But then I feel bad if I don’t finish.
Totally agree lol
ME TOO LMAO i’m literally gay so it’s like
where has this child come from
Sameee! So then I finish it sometimes
Lol
I feel this. The thing is, every single thing that could possibly happen in a romance story has already been done, and because romance stories are done so often, everything that could happen in a romance story is basically a trope. I don’t like romance stories anymore because I feel like I’ve already read everything. Every single romance story is basically a compilation video of the same scenes with the same characterless characters. It’s like watching a couple Five Minute Crafts videos.
You know what should be included in more romance stories? Murder. That’s not done often in romance stories for it to be an overused trope, and you can do more things with it than you can with pregnancy. With pregnancy, there’s just a very limited pallet of what you can do, but murder is a drama goldmine.
Anyway, I feel like I should say I was being sarcastic in the last paragraph in case that wasn’t clear (but at the same time, I totally wasn’t joking). I’ll just stick to mysteries and thrillers, and I totally agree with you.
mafia in manhattan flashbacks
OMG i relate to this soo much I’ve stopped reading a lot of stories because of that. its soo frustrating
exactly lmao
Same. It stresses me out too much
i agree. In hot daddy president i stopped reading after the MC and LI had quadruplets.
I wouldn’t say everything has been used because I don’t honestly believe that. In fact, I think the issue is more along the lines of episode authors are too afraid to branch out because the system rewards cliches. You’re far more likely to get reads on your bad-boy mafia story with your forever-Italian love interest than you are on a genuinely good story.
Several romance stories I’d recommend because they’re not just cliches:
If anyone knows the @ please add it. Also, I don’t do a ton of reading just in general, so none of these are really “small” authors. There are also tons of other amazing stories I’ve not listed despite having romantic elements because the romance element is secondary to the plot. If you’d like me to make a second list, please say so and I will.
