[Solved] Should I move my story to the LGBT genre?

My story Top Designer has an option to play either as:

  • Hetero female MC w/ male LIs

  • Gay male MC w/ male LIs

With the following: A non-binary side-character, and two further side character who are gay couples.

Is it suitable for the genre? Thoughts?

I would personally say no…don’t move it into the LGBT+ genre, only because u have given the option of heterosexual female MC but others may have different views (:

You see that is the whole problem people were having. You shouldn’t do it because you want more reads, it is really unfair. You say your story is at #3 for your genre? Why the h*ck would you want to move it. If the plot doesn’t revolve around those characters then absolutely not. Also if it is a choice it doesn’t belong in the sub genre of LGBTQ+.

Since I read Top Designer, I feel as if it would fit better with the drama category, just because of everything that goes on in the story. It may contain a good amount of LGBTQ+ content, but the separate genre was intended for stories where it goes deep into people’s identities and it being the main focus of the plot (like maybe a coming out story for example). So I think Top Designer would be best where it is now. :v:

Update: Moving it back to drama since I agree it’s more suitable. Btw I updated the app and there’s no separate shelf for the new category so I’m wondering how these stories are going to be discovered…

Sorry, I realized that I accidentally said it in an offensive way that I didn’t intend :face_with_hand_over_mouth: Exploiting genres for reads does sound greedy, my bad.
