the speechbubbles dont have to be directly at the characters mouth do they?

no it’s upto you where you want to put them
I just put them so they are pointing to the person that’s speaking that way the speech bubble won’t be out of the screen
Normally, some people tend to put them at the shoulder of the character if that helps.
