Spotting Duplicate Overlays

I know and understand how to add duplicate overlays in a scene, but how do I spot a duplicate overlay? Does anybody know?

The same way you would spot any other overlay. Just use the name you gave the duplicated overlay.

@overlay BALL_2 create from BALL
@overlay BALL_2 shifts to 100 250 in zone 3 in 0
@overlay BALL_2 scales to 1.0 1.0 in 0
@overlay BALL_2 opacity 1 in 0

INT. OPEN OFFICE AME - DAY with OFFICE DESKS AME to 1.000 0 0 in zone 1 at layer 5 with BLACK OFFICE CHAIR to 0.362 127 19 in zone 1 at layer 4 with BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 to 0.362 145 21 in zone 2 at layer 4
@overlay BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 create from BLACK OFFICE CHAIR

Ohh okay. I did that, and it gave me an error saying that BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 does not exist.

You can’t add duplicate overlays to the background name. You have to use the overlay commands only

What do you mean?

remove the spot direct for your duplicated overlay (the last sentence in your background name) that says “with BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 to 0.362 145 21 in zone 2 at layer 4”

And then type it like this;
&overlay BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 create from BLACK OFFICE CHAIR AND overlay BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 opacity 1 in 0 AND overlay BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 shifts to 145 21 in zone 2 AND overlay BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 scales to 0.362 0.362 AND overlay BLACK OFFICE CHAIR_2 moves to layer 4

Duplicate overlays cannot be added next to the background name. You can only add a duplicate overlay by using the create command and then using the shifts/scales/opacity commands.
