Stop AAPI Hate . . . .

***AAPI - Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

Hate crimes against Asian groups in the U.S. have surged drastically in 2020-- by 150%. And it took the Georgia sh**ting in Atlanta for people to take the violence against Asian communities more seriously. We need to take action to stand in solidarity with our Asian American peers.

Thank you for making this thread. I’m just sad that it’s necessary at all. I’m lucky enough to say that no one in family has had to deal with any violent hate crimes, but not everyone can.
When my sister and I went to Walmart for groceries an old white lady started glaring at us and loudly talked to her husband about the “China virus”. So many people have faced much worse, but that was already scary, as with what’s been happening, it’s hard to know if it will escalate.
So, yeah, thank you for bringing awareness to this topic. :heart:

Ugh. I have a cousin who’s half Chinese and some of his classmates were teasing him about starting the virus, even though he has nothing to do with it. :unamused:

@YourMom
Thanks for creating the topic, btw!

Yea, anti-asian violence has been increasing dramatically since the beginning of covid. It’s sad that there’s enough ignorant people out there to negatively affect innocent people’s quality of life.

The most important thing people can do is to not remain silent when they witness Asian hate. Sure, they can support Asian businesses and donate, but if they remain silent, that’s the worst thing they can do. Speaking up for Asians when they get picked or hated on is very, very important because it can bring a lot of positive change for them.

It’s also important not to believe in stereotypes against Asians. No, Asians are not just Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. No, not all Asians are ‘smart’. No, Asian languages are not just “ching chong.” No, not all Asians eat dogs and cats. Also, people have to stop blaming Asians for the coronavirus. It’s not their fault that the virus originated in China.

I hope this was kind of useful! #stopasianhate

Thank you for this! As an Asian- American, I feel scared to go out on the streets… It’s absolutely disgusting and being blamed that you spread the covid-19 virus is pathetic to say the least…and I hate when people say wong-mong, blah blah, like stop mocking a language, it’s disrespectful.
Please do donate…Lives are being taken…
I still can’t believe it’s 2021 and we are still killing people because of a damn RACE!!???

Bump! Thank you for making this thread :pray: people need to acknowledge the awareness seriously.
As recently, another Asian man got attacked by American citizen. And what’s devastating is that American is firefighter, which ironic since their job is about saving people life but yet he attacked someone because of their race and threatened to death.

I know there are many more racism cases (not only Asian) that haven’t been on news and I really feel sorry for people who have to feel unsafe living in USA all the time
