It’s hard to explain. The story touches on a lot of character flaws, their mistakes and how they come to terms with them. The characters identify what is toxic about themselves and their relationships, but MC focuses on becoming a better person throughout the story and so do the others to a degree. Her bf/ex isn’t actually a bad guy, it’s just that their relationship could’ve been better than it was. Her roommate is her LI though based on the cover and the plot. He’s sensitive, depressive and vulnerable and sometimes he unwillingly as well as willingly takes advantage of the fact that MC lives with him and gives him attention, support and love and by that I don’t mean he forces himself onto her or anything like that, it’s more of an emotional reliance and sometimes physical affection with validation+support. But having read the story, I wouldn’t really say it was romanticizing toxicity, it was more realistic, aware and problem-solving as well as quite slow but you can see how all of the characters develop for the better.
