Stories we're sick and tired of seeing in the trending and featured section

Oh, I see, sorry!

This makes me so scared for my story! I have tried really hard to avoid all of these cliches. My story, that I’m going to publish in a few weeks, is about a girl who decides to work for a young guy who took over his dad’s business. (She only decides to work for him because she wants to open her own business and doesn’t have the money). He never chose too nor does he want to but he’s become a playboy in the eyes of “fame” because of his looks and how young he is for the ammount of success he has. He’s definitely an a-hole and the MC has no intention of changing him because, as I’ve learned throughout my life, you can’t change people. She does begin to see his real personality later in the story and ends up falling for him to some extent. He’s genuinley a great guy he just felt waaaay to pressured to cover it (which of course doesn’t justify his actions and both him and the MC know this). He eventually sells his business and blah blah blah but throughout the whole story I try my best to avoid cliches. There is, to some extent, lust, sex, etc. but in a healthy way because the whole concept of sex is extremely important to me and there is no freaking heat of the moment oh my god. People, you either decide to have sex or you don’t, the “moment” or the heat within it does not change that. Okay, I think that’s it. I’m just hoping that authors will come out with stories that talk about important concepts in a real way. That’s what I’m trying to do with my story (I’m trying to write about sex, relationships and goals in a realistic and healthy way. I’m not a fan of the whole, “I know exactly what will happen next” thing.) Also, people need to stop being scared to mention controversial topics, they’re so important because everyone is scared to talk about them! Sorry, rambling… If you’ve gotten this far then hi! Aaaaand if you happen to come across my story (Sarcasm) in the near future please tell me if I started going down the cliche rabbit hole! (My username on episode is Mariana Orquidea).

True but lots of ppl will attack controversial opinions which is why lots does not get said. Ppl r gonna differ in opinions but just because u dont agree doesnt mean be a jerk. Agree to disagree and move on…(this became longer than i intended)Also i hate heat of the moment junk in stories too…

Also isk where to put this but does anyone else hate the “kiss” animation in INK it seems like hes rubbing MCs boobs #’-’#

While its in my mind…why does the MC always have the perfect comeback to a bully? Ik i freeze up a lot(or glare) especially when it came to bullying crap. So why is it when the MC does she weak and unrealistic…u think with her having the pefrect insults left n right she wouldnt get bullied as often cuz they would find tht threatining(idk im only speaking from my exps with bullies)…idk if i wrote half of wats in my mind with episode stuff i could make like 2 essays >-<

I agree! Although, it may be a bit better if they always gave the choice to either stay something or just walk away.

@GiGi_is_Me As I mentioned earlier, it’s okay to have cliches in your stories. I just think that if you are, then maybe add a plot twist or an ending that is unpredictable. Obviously, a lot of stories have mean girls and crushes on the popular boy. Mean girls are just a fact of life. It’s okay to have these elements in a story, but hopefully, there are other parts of the story that make it unique.

I agree!

@Willowbean That is a good point, but at the same time, bullying is, in some way, different for everyone. When I got bullied in school, it didn’t matter what I said. The bully never really stopped. Sometimes, people will just be mean to be mean no matter what. If that is the author’s experience, then obviously, they will put that into their story.

@phlegmatic I’m actually currently writing a story where the reader gets to decide whether to say something or ignore it because I believe that the reader should get a choice in how they handle certain situations.

Yeah, depending on the cliche, as long a it’s appropriate, inoffensive, and unique, it can work out.

Mine depending if you class it as cliches as the MC was a teen mother and became famous it more what happens after the so called happy ending she famous has a child and was with the guy of dreams. Now she a adult a old friend comes back into her life and now she at a crossroads in her life career and love wise.

Is it horrible if I kinda enjoyed that one…

@yanawrotethat No lol. My joke was merely pointing fun at the title “My Teacher, My Gangster”.

Assuming you are talking about the story itself, I wouldn’t call it “horrible” if you enjoyed the story. Everyone has their own tastes here and of course, there is both subjectivity and objectivity involved with this.

I think that both readers and writers should understand that it is important for them not to glorify such sensitive schemes to avoid promotion of said schemes. It is also important to understand that such portrayals may not be realistic. I think the problem that many people have is simply the way - ‘how’ these themes are portrayed and in what light. You are free to enjoy, write, or read whatever you want and no one can judge you for that. At the same time, we also must be mindful of the potential effects that our actions can bring, that’s all.

And more importantly, I think we must respect one another on a human level, even if we do not agree on something. So no worries. That’s my take on it! :+1:

Ok so this just came to me. Most of the trending stories have a plot along the lines of: there is a female MC who has all these romantic complications (love triangles, cheating, etc) with boys. Most of the time, the MC is either throwing themselves at the boy, or the boy is hopelessly in love with her, but something gets in the way. Some of the only stories I’ve read where the MC is actually a boy and not just a love interest is Chain Reaction and… well that’s all I can think of right now. Who agrees that we need boys as not only love interests, but also MCs. Or maybe just eliminate the love factor altogether. Not every successful episode story has to involve cliche romances. Why can’t a boy and a girl just be friends without aways taking it to the next level. In most of the stories I’ve read, the girl MC has been childhood friends with one boy but then they always end up as a love interest. Like what? I can understand if this may be true in some cases but it doesn’t have to be. A female and a male should be able to remain friends, and males shouldn’t only serve as love interests. There. My tangent is done. Please don’t hate me this is just my opinion.
