In all of the Chain Reaction series, and It’s just an Illusion series there is no real- real mc, (so you’re not following the same person the entire time) and there’s no love triangles (and what I mean by that, is that you don’t pick who you’re with at the end)
There’s a few with a male mc. Like The Cardboard House for example. Then Myserious: Life or Death where you can pick your gender. I think the majority of the Episode community is female, so there is a lot of girly stories.

The Cardboard House by @Echo_D is one of my favessssss. She has other stories with Male MC’s as well, like Astronomy Gossip and Destiny Dispatcher. Both really good.

I think one of the points that the author of the original post tried to make was that many authors use the clichés because they want to gain popularity and not because they honestly believe that their story should go that way. They get involved in a vicious circle where they write something that they assume will be popular (not what they really want to write), and then people read this kind of stories because there’s not much choice, at least in the top 100. And by featuring those stories again and again, or creating their own stories with similar plots, Episode reinforces the idea that this gets you reads (and this is the only thing that sells and makes you popular).
I agree with some people here that the best way of changing this is writing your own story that isn’t full of cliches. But I also know that many authors are discouraged because it’s hard to get noticed when you’re deep down in the rankings. And when the same popular story with millions of reads gets on the weekly shelf, it’s easy to lose hope. One really good thing Episode does is contests, this is one way of being noticed no matter how few reads you have. I wish there were more activities like that and more authors could participate and stand up for what they like writing and reading about.

There are some cliche stories I like but others ones are weird. I think the pregnancy cliche is weird because in some stories, it romanticizes teenage pregnancy. I don’t read them to be honest, I’ve only read 1 or 2 stories. The step-brother one is weird to me tbh. See I think some cliches are okay as long as readers find them interesting. Like the reality T.V shows and Deep Attraction is one of my top stories. What I think needs to happen is more variety of stories need to be featured. I think a mixture of the good cliche storeis and unique stories would be good. Just my opinion.

Those cliches must be stopped, they have a very bad influence on young people. Same things happened in my country, when Wattpad became a trend, a lot of stories were written in a very speechless way lmao. Until now, those storyline are still popular among kids.
But I really don’t understand why kids these days enjoy those kinds of story??? When I was in their ages, all I knew was Disney and mangas like Doraemon =))))))))), didn’t even know or care about bad boy thingy. Maybe I’m too old to these days kids.

and when the mc has an utterly plain personality, how can you even read a story when the protagonist it’s just soo boring? yes i’m talking about the i-don’t-fit-in-teenage-girl cliché
I don’t see how pregnancy it’s entertaining in any form, for me, a 16 year old girl, it’s the last thing i want think about, let alone spend my free time reading about it, so cringy, stop just pls just stop.
Be creative, learn and do some research before trying to write a story, it’s not easy i know, but with some creativity and dedication you can make a great story.
