Hey guys, so I am aware of episodes no gun in covers policy and I just found out we can’t use blood overlays and things like that I just want to know what else cannot be used in our stories.
I have a scene in my story where one of the characters says “I was almost shot” and then they proceed to say “Ron was shot.”
Nothing graphic is shown and the character doesn’t go into detail about the incident. Is it ok to use this scene in my story? Also, if there’s anything else I should know about policy violations as far as this topic specifically goes, please lmk.

Well I couldn’t at least. I tried to upload 2 and they both got declined for depiction of torture or something like tht. 
I’ve seen many stories that have blood overlays

Yea I have to that’s why I was so confused when they declined the one I uploaded.

You will be fine. There isn’t anything against guns in actual stories, as long as there isn’t exsesive blood, gore, or torture. They’ll even approve a sniper overlay. Especially if you don’t add graphics, i assure you, you’ll be okay.
See, they say we cant, but as long as they aren’t large pools of blood/excessive blood, it is allowed. Again, just not too much.

Don’t label it as blood upload it as something else. That’s what I do.

I labeled it as BL overlay but now I scared to upload any blood overlays because the message they sent me said “However, please note that because your overlay was not approved, you will NOT be able to publish your story if it continues to reference this image in any episode.” I just dont want to risk not being able to publish my story because I took a lot of time on it.

I use blood overlays one of them is named blood_pool. I mean💀
You can have blood overlays ( I have a pool of blood and 2 splatter shots that have been approved.) , they just can’t be like horror film levels of blood.
Delete them and try to reupload since it’s a team of people doing these OL/BG reviews sometimes what one considers against the rules, another won’t.
Or you can submit a support ticket explaining that your OLs were denied but you’ve seen several stories with blood in them and Episode itself even gives us blood to put on our characters in the Outfits section.
I had to submit a ticket about a bg that was not approved – but the support team quickly fixed it and approved my bg.
The rule of thumb with Episode is Moderation and leave some things to the imagination. Ex: using the gunshot sound with a closeup on the characters shocked face then a slow fade gives the impression that someone’s been shot but doesn’t “show” violence on the screen.
No need to be afraid to upload OLs. It means that you can’t use that image in your story because it was not approved. You can remove the overlays/replace them and publish. Also, my overlays are labeled BLOODPOOL and SPLATTER1 and 2 and I’ve uploaded cuts and bruises, too. It’s not that you can’t use blood in your story, you just can’t use the unapproved ones.

Hope it works out. I just don’t want you to be afraid to publish-- you just cant publish if you are using any “unapproved” images in your script. Good luck
