I am currently writing a story but I’ve stumbled across a problem. There is a particular thing that one of the characters has gone through that plays a part in the story as it uncovers why the character did what they did,
I obviously do not want to upset or trigger anyone in anyway. I know I can/need to add a trigger warning and allow the reader a choice as to if they want to read what happened or not. But the problem I have is that if they choose to skip that part, they wouldn’t understand the characters motive.
My story has a LOT of sensitive subjects. I didn’t give the readers to skip over what had happened, because I wanted them to see everything, so they can know what the MC is going through and what kind of position she is in. But I did put at the start of my story LOADS of trigger warnings, I made the reading aware multiple times that the story is very heavy. And I had episode admin go over my story three ties and they said this is fine, If you need any more help please let me know x
Thanks just think it’s going to be awkward as the reader wouldn’t know anything about what happened until mid way through the story. It’s kind of like a plot twist.
Would you suggest putting it at the very beginning of the story or only the episodes that contain the potential triggering information.
Almost every episode of mine has sensitive topics in, I made my own trigger warning page, and I also use the episode warning page at the start of each episode, but my episode page I only put at the beginning of the story
That’s alright! Yea of course, mine is called
Mum knows best.
If you wanna give it a read I would be greatful! Have you published yours yet? Can I read yours? It sounds really interesting? X
I’ll have a look I’m actually only on episode 1 ha ha ha so unfortunately it’s no where near ready would be happy to share it when I’ve done a few episodes though
That’s the one
Oh well when you have published it let me know because it sounds really interesting.
If there’s any help you need on yours let me know and I’ll try my best to help x
Description:
When a famous fashion designer is found murdered in her own dressing room it’s up to you and your partner to find out who is responsible. What seems to be a normal murder investigation becomes a lot more complicated when a single scar reveals the true identity of the victim is actually her twin sister who died in a car crash 2 years ago.
Dose anyone know if the episode team can review scripts before it is coded. I think the script I have is suitable but I don’t want to have coded a whole scene to be told it is inappropriate. I want to be realistic without stepping over the line and it going against the guidelines. My friend refuses to read it as she knows full well that it is a massive spoiler in the story and wants to read it for herself
