Long story short: I donāt plan mine.
Well, okay, I do. But not much. I use Google Keep to keep track of helpful templates, character cards, other important details, etc. I plan in my head. And thatās pretty much it. Oh, and I occasionally use a Google doc template for planning made by @scarlettm
One tip I have is plan a lot, but donāt plan to a point where youāre stressing yourself out. Thatās when itās too much⦠and thatās it! I know Iām probably not very helpful
Yes, I honestly tend to overplan when Iām first coming up with an idea, but then I stress and end up changing 50% of the story. Itās hard at first, but once you start writing it gets a bit easier⦠until you hit writerās block. But thatās a totally different story.
Btw, as @juliewrites mentioned, I do have a few planning docs and stuff, so if youād like to use them, join this classroom and you can access them:

Thank you (: Iām scared that if I donāt plan enough there gonna be gaps in the story :,)
Thanks (: and yes lmao thats what iām currently going through
Gaps are prety easy to fill. Usually, thereās a sub-plot, best friendās romance, family issues, etc. Thatās why drama stories never run out of, well, drama.
Yes, we all hit it at some point!
Iāve quit⦠5-6 stories because of lack of ideas. Obviously, others have more motivation than I do. But changing 50% of your story can do that.
I have a pretty solid idea of what I want, so i donāt think Iām going to change my story that much. Youāre right about the drama part, this makes things a lot easier. I was talking about gaps in the plot tho
I feel like iām gonna mess up if i donāt go in detail in the planning.
Girl me too
but I finally have one that I hope I can finish (:
If you add a drama, it can fill in missing scenes. For example, in one of my never going to be completed stories, there was a part where my MC was going to the theater, but I didnāt want to show the entire play or cut the episode too short, so I added her best friend having trouble with her boyfriend to fill in the empty time. Of course, the sub-plot can fill in major storyline gaps as well, like if thereās a part that has less planning done, a well-developed, well-timed subplot can fill in and hide that mistake.
Well, I personally think it depends what kind of a ālearnerā you are, if that makes sense. Like Iām a visual learner and āI have to do it myself in order to understand itā kind of a learner. The reason Iām saying ālearnerā is supposed to represent the preference that comes easiest for you to remember all your planning. Iāve heard that some writers like writing theyāre script in google docs (the ones that plan their story) or others that completely wing-it and jot it down anywhere (which both are perfectly fine btw). I myself have a cork white/white board above my desk Iām sitting at right now and I write down ideas that come to mind for me to later type into my āNotesā app in my phone. Iāve actually once woken up at 3 AM in the morning to write down an idea I came up with while I was about to go to sleep
Yeah, talk about commitment right? š„ø Anyway my point is I think there should be a designated area, whether it is google docs, a tiny planning whiteboard, your Notes app, or simply a journal where you write down anything that comes to mind. ā1 stupid word could lead to 1 whole storyā is my mottoā:joy:
-I speak from experience (Iām here saying this because Iām planning my 5th story and havenāt even completed my first episode for my first story
) anywayyy! Good luck & my apologies for rambling

Everyone is different when it comes to writing. Some plan, some write as they go. It honestly just depends on you. My suggestion would be when you have an idea for a story, write it down. It could be a detailed idea or a partial idea. Having any ideas or details written down will help you plan your story better. Organization is key to planning and/or writing.
Personally, I write down ideas first then rearrange them that would make sense for an episode (hopefully that made sense). After that, I would move to dialogue. I tend to write the dialogue out first before going on the portal, because all I have to do is copy and paste it. I plan my stories the way that works for me.
Just find a way that works for you. If you want to feel more organized, write the ideas down. If you just want to write as you go, write as you go.
Hopefully this helps!
It really depends on the category you write your story in.
If you write a comedy thatās based on a very similar world that we live in, you already have a basis for cultures, standards and places etc.
However if you write fantasy or sci-fi youāll need to build a whole world. You donāt need to but it really adds and helps your story. Building such a background to base your story on will take A LOT of time.
In any case itās always best to at least have a basis for your story with knowledge about the cultures, places etc that youāll use. They can also help you write more in depth and less superficial.
Thank you (: Iāll try planning out some of the dialogue, I think this will help me get started (:
Itās a romance story but there are a few things that are fantasy-like? But I already have most of that figured out (: Ty for the help!
