Story Review Process

I guess where I am confused it seems as if you guys are going in order of ranks based on my stories that have been reviewed. I updated and now one of my stories that hasn’t be reviewed is trending in the top 20’s will this automatically trigger a review or do you have a list you are going through first? From what I understand above this should trigger a review with the new tools in place.

Also I do have some questions since I am still not seeing my story that was reviewed on October 23rd on the app but I don’t want to create a ticket because I am afraid of sending my ticket that is over a month old to the back of the queue with the way support tickets are set up.

I just don’t even know what to do anymore :pensive:

I have thought about categorizing my story as a horror before. I know it’s bad thing, but sometimes I get tempted :woman_facepalming:t4:

That is a good point I hadn’t thought about. To quote my second post:

Do you think adding a New User Stories section to each genre would help small authors in this situation?

It might help for sure. Lot of readers go for stories with high reads believing that this is proof the story is good. But there are people who got that there might be hidden gems among the less read or brand new stoties.

But in general we all simply need our stories to be visible on the app.

I get that episode underestimated their ability to review fast the stories. But what I dont get at all is the fact that lot of authors including me experience situation that their story was revieved but is not visible on the app anyway.

This looks to me like there is one big mess around this right now. Thay say thay do update weekly… So from this logic every story which passed the review should be back visible on the app within a week. But this is not happening to many stories.

And asking in ticket about this ends up in wague nothing saying respond which doesnt explain this situation.

I actualy dont thing thay are bad… It just seem to me thay decided for something that is simply too big and was maybe not thinked through enough.

Waiting for review 1,5-2 months…that is something nobody was expecting (even episode itself I guess)
And after having positive review it seems it works more like a lotery if your story will be back on ap anyway… That make no sence. So only explanation I have for this is that there is eather technical issue or simply chaos because it is all done manually so lot of “human mistakes” happen right now.

Guys I probalby need help to understand this. English is not my native language and I start to feel like an idot because I do not get what is support teling me. Can somebody of you simplyfy this for me? Because I dont want to bother them anymore.

First I was asking when my story which is already reviewed will be visible in the trending/genre section

respond:
The trending section is updated once a week and not all stories will end up there, only the top stories. Once your story rank is high enough, it will appear in the Trending section.

So I asked one more time on the GENRE - FANTASY section only (yes I wrote it with capslock so no misunderstanding is possible) - because (I maybe get this wrong) I though genre section is not the same as trending section.

respond:
At this time, there is a temporary limit to the number of stories that will be shown on the trending list. Since we have made the recent changes to our guidelines, a few other features and functions of our app are adjusting to these changes. While we work to get these improvements in place, the trending section will be updated once a week, with the goal of having it back to updating at the previous rate as soon as we can. We hope to be able to add more stories to the trending sections with each weekly update.

So MY QUESTION is - is the genre section the same as the “trending” section? So my story will not be visible in the fantasy genre till it reaches some specific high trending number even it was reviewed?

No, if you go to the tab where it says “Stories we love.” I believe you have to be in the top 100 in that trending section. Not the genre categories.

If only the stories in the top 100 get reviewed, is it the top 100 of the trending section or their respective genres? Because the top 100 in the trending section have always remained the same stories anyway :no_mouth:

I got the review because I asked for it…but aparently it anyway doesnt help the story to get visible because it is not top 30 ( or how many stories there are now show in the FANTSY genre)

It is soooooooo confuzing.

so do you understand their second respond where I was asking specificly for the genre section and my story to by visible there? Because it seem to me thay are not talking about it…

@Liz This seems to be happening in the romance and drama categories, which are by far the most popular. While many top trending stories HAVE been reviewed and added (good job team!), not all people who requested reviews and were in the top 100 received one. Due to a lack of visibility, some have fallen from the top 100 in their genres.

Obviously Episode can only do so much and there are only so many hours in the day, but with requests for reviews no longer being accepted, some of the authors who fell through the cracks are wondering what they need to do to get reviewed and back in rankings. Was being in the top 100 AT ALL something that will eventually get their story reviewed? Or do they have to remain in the top 100 for a certain period of time?

Thank you!

My understanding is that it’s each genre. My stories which are visible are definitely not top 200 overall lol but they trend top 100 in their respective categories.
Farah- when did your stories get reviewed? I have some that were approved on October 24th and I’m still waiting (yet my stories approved on October 25th are live already) and was told that I missed a cut off. One of the stories that didn’t go on the ranks last week trends much better than one of the stories that was approved on October 25th (and went live last week) in the exact same category. :woman_shrugging:t4:

the review was closed after I censored one forgotten profanity on 28.10…

Elise - so in your understanding what thay wrote me means that despite I have a positive review my story will not be visible in the genre section unless it will reach some (not specified) high-rank number?

I have stopped publishing because of the invisibility and because I am first time publisher without big fan base the number dropped down…before I was after publishing chapter jumping for few days up to 500 overall and 30 in genre FANTASY usually.:unamused:

So I don’t know if publishing a new chapter might help to make the story visible again…

For me it took a couple weeks after review for it to show up in the app. I think they update the stories in the app on Wednesdays or Thursdays. Others have experienced the same. You’ll probably be fine.

Stories tend to be updated on Wednesdays and if your story was reviewed and cleared on the 28th, then you likely would have missed last week’s cut off (like I said, mine was reviewed on the 24th) and possibly even this week’s cut off.
I’m honestly not too sure how many stories they take in each genre, but there are stories showing on the ranks now, that usually trend below some of mine so I’m not really sure. If you’re usually hovering in the top 100 in fantasy then I’d assume you’d be fine? But I can only speculate.

how has your trending before it was brought back visible on app?

my rank was always floating … 30 after publishing due to fans who usualy go and read it imediatelly but it dropped in few days to 150 or even less. Usually I was in top 200 in genre most of the days and going bit up with every new chapter.

but now it is 354 in fantasy…which makes me feel like it will be never again visible because now in the genre are not even 100 stories shown (at last in the fantasy it seem to me like 50-60 max)

I think that’s more because they’re really, really far behind and stories that were reviewed (and passed) over a week ago still aren’t showing.

I just counted it and in my app I see only 57 comunity stories in the fantasy section.

I could have missed one or two but I definitly dont see 100 or even more…

Like I mentioned, I think they’re just really behind. There’s not 100 in thriller or horror yet either. All my stories trend top 100 (except 1) in their genres, and they’re not all back up yet.
