I have not received an official answer. And since I am really interested in knowing how to proceed with any new stories (or IF), I filed a ticket. So far I have only received the generic answer that we can still send stories in for review (which in no way answered my very specific question about unpublished and/or new stories).
Alright, and this is what I also wanted to know.
So when a new story is published, it won’t be in any trending section until it’s reviewed?
What is considered mild, moderate and/severe violations of the guidelines? Many stories have some form of mature violence and romance, so how is this measured?
I’m pretty sure this is hard to tell without context. But all kind of violations would result in getting your story blocked from somewhere, so if you want to avoid this, you should aim for making it as clean as possible
So for example, the majority of romance stories have multiple sexual/ intimate scenes and they are very popular. Will these stories be removed from the top lists?
I think that depends on reviewer himself ![]()
Because if I’d be reviewer, I wouldn’t mark romance stories as severe violations of guidelines, unless I’d see hard sex in them
and many writers do have stories like that. Mama papa sex is ok and it’s perfect as long as mama is wearing lingerie and papa his undies. If they have sex like that in every scene, nothing is wrong, it’s just boring and disgusting.
But I’d mark as hard violations stories which use too much blood and horrifying scenes. Kids love them, but they fear to death.
You need to msg episode support, they will email you with the changes that you need to make in your story, when you fix it, they will unban your story.
Thank you everyone for your response! It really helped to clarify things
Update: I received information that it is possible to send in unpublished stories in for review.
Did they tell you if it’s required to do so if you want to be visible?
awesome.
It’s been almost a month and my action story has stayed in the top 10 trending for the action genre. Passed the review with no problems, yet it still hasn’t shown up on the ranks. Every time I open my app, the trending shelves change. If I refresh the app, they also change. It just seems so unorganized and messy lol
Not specifically. But I guess that’s a given, since no unreviewed stories will be on the leaderboards.
Thank you! I’ve sent several tickets, but I received only standard answers. One of the tickets was sent 2 hours after they announced the new guideline, but still, my story hasn’t been reviewed.
When you had to fix something after receiving a review, do they message you back? Because I’m lost lol
Yes. I fix what needs to be corrected, reply back to the support ticket and then they’ve always responded saying that the story is now approved.
@Liz @Tyler I noticed that around two weeks ago the status of unreviewed stories changed in the portal. Before I could see my normal rate (based on reads) even if on the app I was #101 just after reviewed stories. For example, after update I was #6 and could slowly see how my rank drops (on portal).
But now things are different, my rank always stays #101 (after update so it’s the best rank I can have) normally lower but still #101 in genre.
So how does it work with your statement that you will review only the stories that will pass to top 100? If they can’t pass the #100 wall and always remain 101 unless they’re reviewed, how the author can know it they story will be automatically reviewed one day? Do you even see those stories or your system sees them as #101? Can you explain how does your system work?
Hi Liz,
I’m hoping you can help me!
My story “From Ashes” with @lalawrites1 has been in the top 100 in Thriller consistently for the last few weeks and yet it has not been automatically reviewed.
Do you have any idea what I can do about this?
Hi @Liz
I am curious… because I understand that a story cannot be reviewed until it enters the top 100. I launched 3 episodes as I was around 103 and thought I could boost my ranking. I seemed to have a higher overall ranking now the my stories in the top 100 (50/35 in comedy) that are showing on the app, however my newly launched story wont trend past 101. How do I get it into the top 100 if I am not allowed in the top 100? I am so confused.
Any light you can shed would be really appreciated.
Thank you x
