Struggling with building Instagram fanbase

Hey, everyone! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I’ve kinda been struggling with building my Instagram fanbase for a few months now. I’ve been stuck at 42 followers for months.
I tried following other episode related accounts too. But to be honest, I think my problem is my posts?? Like I literally only post about updates or sneak Peeks of my story because I don’t really have anything else to post, unfortunately.
I’ve seen some threads suggesting to join group chats on IG but where do these people start from?
I’m still a new author and a student currently still studying so my updating schedule is kinda messed up. But I kept it constant to update my stories through IG as well.
And making friends through Instagram felt a little weird to me as I am a shy person.
My thoughts now writing this are, ‘What can I post other than updates and sneak peeks?’ ‘How do I get more engagement?’

I’d suggest maybe making coding/writing tip posts? I did some of those and they were great for engagement! Just try to think of things you could post about the community other than your story content. If you can edit, edits are pretty popular too. After a while and if your story gets more reads, followers come a lot more naturally. I personally have only been posting story related stuff for the past month and got pretty good engagement regardless since people started following me to stay updated on it.

Try making video edits or just regular characters edits that helps with fanbase.

Tbh I do the same thing (post updates and codes) and only have 25 followings, though I don’t really focus on followings because I post what I wanna post.

Sllight disclaimer as I don’t have many following I may not be the best person to ask but I do stuff for my mom channel as social media marketing so I have a few things.

But some tips are from this episodelife.com tips section:

Also, try posting things you like about episode or are good at. And maybe showing you doing new things or testing things out related to episode. Not sure if your story is out but if it is you could do character descriptions and personalities and/ or extra scenes that can be found on your Instagram. Joining clubs for something you good at, like I joined a clubepi_ to help people which is a kind thing and you can meet new people too, without nessicarily starting a conversation. Check for hiring clubs @clubepi_ is hiring and a few built clubs usually hire throughout the year so you can look out for that. There also forum art shops where you could put the credit towards your Instagram, you can check shop titles to see if they are hiring.

I’d say try to become friends with other authors who aren’t underrated to give you a shoutout or smth? Maybe post some edits or funny moments etc… A giveaway? Art tts,

What do people do for giveaways? Will people join even though the organizer isnt that popular too?

To your first question, art, edits, pfp’s, mood boards, splashes, and other art items there known for or can do. To you second question, usually more so on the forums, usually on Instagram you have need a good fan base.

They giveaway something value. Like a contest and the person who wins gets a macbook :joy:.

I guess it depends on what you’re giving for your givaway. Usually people on insta do giveaways from what I’ve seen. I’ll say go for it if you can. I’ll say go for my first option and then do a giveaway to raise your fanbase up.

For my first one I did an art giveway with the artist who did my cover and a background drive subscription, I got a lot of followers from that! People love free stuff like that so you could try :blob_hearts:

To build a fan base, you would have to interact more with people in the community. I’m not talking about following other episode accounts because that doesn’t guarantee an official following from them. They can unfollow you but you’ll still follow them. Making friends or even genuine connections can help build your fan base. Their friends, followers, and connections all have friends/followers/connections as well. When they see an awesome person their friend is talking about, it is more likely they will follow you (won’t happen all the time FYI).

You can do what others have suggested but I personally think, posting other types of content won’t guarantee the fan base you want. It always starts with “friends”, more publicity, more followers.

Can I ask what topics should I start with? Because it would be really weird if someone just came up to you and asks, “Hey, can I be your friend?” and walks off

Don’t just say “hey can I be your friend?” to someone. I personally think that’s weird. You can start threads here on the forums about topics you’re interested in and if people respond, go off on that. Or interact with people in threads on topics you’re interested in. On Instagram, I would think making conversation about the other person’s work, whether it’s their story or art. You need to find common interests between you and that other person. Friendships start with common interests.

I’ve seen threads on here just asking to be their friend and follow them on Instagram. If you just want quick and easy followers, that could be something to try.

What kind of followers you looking for? Just people to follow you or people who are genuinely interested in you and your work?

Well if you followers you need to interact with them. Talk to them, maybe you both might have an interest in something. As for my personal opinion, the reason why I follow ppl, is because they show beautiful arts, show their talents in making something music, crafting, sewing, building, dancing, ppl with all sorts of talents. But also ppl that like to explore the beauty of nature itself. That is why I follow them. However, just don’t be annoying like those that post everyday, of something random cuz it could cause u to lose a follower. Anyways, that’s just my opinion. Just to be brief, you be yourself, because I’m pretty sure you know what talent or skill you have. Be true to yourself.

Moved to Episode Fan Community since this is related to the Episode community. Make sure to check out our Forum Tutorial for more info about creating topics, and feel free to PM me if you’ve got questions.

I’m looking for people who likes my content and myself. I know there’s some people out there asking me if I want to do a follow for follow which personally I’m not interested in.

Okay, then you will have to interact here on the forums and Instagram. It just starts with a conversation, but I would suggest making friends with not so popular authors because they might not have time to talk to you. It’ll take some time but it’ll be worth it.
