Ok, so this is a wierd poll but earlier I accidentally found an article online about this couple, they were in love with each other and they finally got married. So it was basically their story.
But the thing is, the woman’s father is the guy’s mother’s brother. So basically the couple are first cousins. The article said that they got a lot of mixed responses from their family members about their relationship. And they had to go to this other country to legally get married. So random poll question inspired by that article…
Do you think it should be globally legal for two first cousins to get married?

Idk tbh.
Only reason it’s technically bad is for reproduction, because of potential genetic diseases… well, I think it’s gross but who tf am I… marriage doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll have kids, and making the marriage illegal won’t stop them from having kids… but marriage does kind of encourage having kids…
I said “sure” on the basis that there’s no other circumstance where marriage is illegal for the sake of the health of any potential children. The risk between first cousins of a random genetic disease showing up is about 8% (compared to about 4% in the general population), and it’d be higher if they know they have something running in the family. The chances of a type-1 diabetic man passing type-1 diabetes to his child is about 6%. If one parent has Down’s Syndrome, the chance of their child having the same is at least 35%. Two parents with achondroplasia (comes with potential health problems such as misshapen spine, fluid buildup in the head, ear infections, and breathing difficulties) have a ~50% chance of their baby having it as well, and a ~25% chance of miscarriage/stillbirth. Even just two parents who have the same genetic disease running in both families have the chance of passing it on. But incest is the only one of these genetic risks where consensual marriage is illegal in many countries. Should people who know their children are at risk of genetic diseases explore other options? None of my business. But I don’t have any good arguments for making any of these illegal.
So as long as both partners properly consent to the marriage, it should be legal I guess, regardless of what I think is gross, because happy couples don’t care about the opinion of some stranger on the internet with a weird emoji pfp.
Do you know what a game designer is?

If you don’t know what it is, it’s a job when you make the plot and design of a game, story, and characters! I’m planning to be one!
Aww that’s such a cool job!!!

thanks!
I take meds every day
Do you want in a story to be asked if you want to recap the previous chapter?

I totally support you! It’s a really cool job!!
I only choose the recap if:
By “complex fantasy,” I mean either something the author made up entirely, something based on mythology that might not be familiar to the readers, or a story that combines multiple kinds of mythology. A generic werewolf or vampire story might not need it, but a story that spans multiple different kinds of Aboriginal folklore with some added creative license from the author might need it, just as an example.
Thank you very much for the explanation, I really needed to know, I want to know if in my story I will put recap, tbh I don’t want to because I think it’s really boring, but judged of what you said I don’t think that I will do more than e.g a month to publish because I revamp the story to another style and I am trying to fix it and I think my story is very simple, not many names, not many mythic creatures, but I’ll wait to see the results. Thank you very very much, I need that kind of responses!

thx!
No problem, it’s very important to have support when you have a goal/dream.
