Tal's Coding 101 - Questions & Help With Directing

Glad I could help! Next lessons will be out as soon as my overlays are approved :grin:

Hi Tal, thank you so much for helping the community with your coding tutorials. I’m patiently waiting for you to post the new tutorials so I can practice along with you. They have helped me so much as I’m a new writer on the portal.

The only question I have is that when I preview the last scene of my story on the computer it shows perfectly, however, when I preview on my phone in the app the mc appears bigger and the other character is missing but there speech bubble is there. I have updated the script multiple times and restarted app but it doesn’t change.

That’s odd. Mind sending a screenshot of your script & show me what happens on your phone?

In this picture it previews

And in this one its not showing correctly

Could it be your zoom? Try putting “@zoom reset” at the beginning of your scene :thinking:

I did the zoom reset and it worked after I previewed it the first time but then started acting up again. I guess my app is emotional today. Maybe it’ll be in a better mood today. Thanks for your help

Did you type the @zoom reset command in your script or did you click the reset button on the phone? You should write the @zoom reset command and then after it’s saved reload your script on your phone.

Yes, I typed @zoom reset. I think there’s something wrong with the app. I’m going to uninstall and install it back

If it doesn’t work, send a ticket to Episode so that they can help you. This is very weird.

I will. Thank you so much for your help. I’ll let you know what happen

One thing I was wondering is how do you move around the “camera” in a scene. I see people smoothly move around to show different characters and I wanna learn how to do that. Thank you !

This lesson is already ready and as soon as my overlays are approved it will be published! :smiley:

Okay great!

i’m not sure if i should be commenting this but i don’t know where else to ask… i’m new at writing episode stories (and omg thank you so much for coding 101 it helped me so much) but i can’t figure out how to make a character hold something. a book for example, or especially holding a bow and arrow (basically the character practicing archery) i’ve been trying to find a tutorial on this for the longest time but i can’t find anything so i decided i should try here

These are props! To give your character a prop, use
`

@give [PROP] to [CHARACTER]

To remove a prop use

@remove [PROP] from [CHARACTER]

You can find a list of all your props beneath the reviewer :blush:

Hi so the question I wanted to ask was that is there an option for timed tappable overlays like in minigames with time limits just like there is an options of timed choices ?

Timed tappables aren’t an option on Episode, however you can use clever tricks to direct such things using overlay animations and gains.
