I feel like itâs time to finally contribute to my own threadđ Iâm from Canada and I feel like something people may not realize is how different all of our provinces are. I know that every country has distinct parts but I feel like sometimes all Canadians get lumped together. Thereâs drastic differences in the industries, cultures, and geographical landscapes from the west coast, the prairies, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada (where Iâm from). Also, Canada is huge but our population is so spread out. My province alone is bigger than some countries but our population is only 500,000 and most of that (around 200,000) is concentrated around the capital city where Iâm from.
One of my favourite things about my country is how beautiful it is. Itâs definitely a great place to live if you love outdoors activitiesđ Another thing that I like is how much we celebrate and embrace our diversity. Unfortunately I know that we have problems with racism like everywhere in the world but I think that a lot of people love how diverse our population is. My province (NL) in particular has really embraced and welcomed all of the Syrian refugees over the years and thatâs made me really proud to be from there and to be part of the effort to help them get settled in their new homeđ
You can tell me all about your country, haha. Iâm going a roadtrip from Calgary to Vancouver via Vancouver Island this summer. Iâm really excited
Oh and so you know Iâm a big fan of this thread. I really love this!
Iâm from Finland. I donât know what kind of âstereotypesâ we have But we love to go to Sauna, we have free school, good healthcare. Usually in winter itâs cold here no matter where you are, this winter it wasnât cold and snowy everywhere which sucks
Feel free to ask me anything if anyone wants to know something about Finland
Moi from Sweden! Iâve been to Finland a few times because my grandma lives there, but sadly Iâve never learned Finnish I think it sounds so fun and itâs very different from Swedish, which is fascinating since Sweden and Finland is neighboring countries! Itâs truly unique and I really wish I was taught Finnish. Apart from your language I like you licorice, I would say itâs a little bit better than here , and i also love (I donât really know what you say) to take a sauna. Everyone seems so nice and humble and I hope I can visit Finland soon again!
Men hallĂ„ hur kul!! I agreed with you, salty licorice is amazing (donât understand people that doesnât like it ) and Finland makes the best one for sure!
Glad to hear you like our amazing country and our salty licorice If you really wanna learn Finnish, why not try some online courses or something. And about us being nice and humble, I donât know if we are, I guess we are nice.
Hahahah jaa, jag tycker det lÄter som en bra plan! Vi fÄr hoppas nÄgra fler joinar Go Swedes
I know right! And everyone that doesnât like licorice is always exaggerating about how âdisgustingâ it is. Like, hello, do you know what you are missing??
You know thatâs not a bad idea, it would be amazing to speak and understand Finnish! Will be sure to put it on my to do list. Well I donât know that many people in Finland but the vibes I get is that the people living there are happy and pretty chill. Can be absolutely wrong though
Thatâs an amazing idea, jag tycker vi borde satsa
Well yes, to stay on topic I can say that not everyone here is blonde with blue eyes, we have a lot of forests and if weâre lucky we can get a decent summer.
But I think that the weather so far have been terrible! It feels more like fall than winter and I really miss having a lot of snow
