So I tried to follow a guide for text overlays and this is what I put into my script:
@overlay AMBULANCE create text Jolie Beaumonte
But I must be doing something wrong because no text or anything is showing up on screen so I’m not sure what needs to be fixed. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Hi! Welcome back, I’m confused as to why you wrote, “create text Jolie Beaumonte.” I believe to add an overlay to a scene, you put @overlay OVERLAYNAME create. If “Jolie Beaumonte” is a separate overlay than ambulance, I would do:
@overlay AMBULANCE create
and @overlay Jolie Beaumonte create
This is for turning a normal overlay into text through the script. It’s not a pre-created overlay. I’m trying to turn the overlay AMBULANCE into the text “Jolie Beaumonte”. Here’s the guide link: https://www.dara-amarie.com/text-overlays
INT. WALKINCLOSET - DAY with AMBULANCE in zone 2
&cut to zone 2 @overlay AMBULANCE create text Jolie Beaumonte @overlay AMBULANCE opacity 1 in 0 @zoom on 450 328 to 192% in 0 @JOLIE stands screen center in zone 2 AND JOLIE faces right
The ambulance shows up normally as would be expected but it’s not turning into text.
Ok, I got it to appear but then when I tried to move it and change the color it stopped showing up.
INT. WALKINCLOSET - DAY @overlay AMBULANCE shifts to 86 425 in zone 2 @overlay AMBULANCE scales to 2.818 2.818 @overlay AMBULANCE create text |color:white, underline , outline:white| Welcome @overlay AMBULANCE opacity 1 in 0
The create command needs to go before all the other commands.
Also, you placed the overlay in zone 2 but haven’t cut to zone 2.
INT. WALKINCLOSET - DAY @overlay AMBULANCE create text |color:white, underline , outline:white| Welcome @overlay AMBULANCE shifts to 86 425 in zone 2 @overlay AMBULANCE scales to 2.818 2.818 @overlay AMBULANCE opacity 1 in 0
