Hi there, I see a lot of authors have like little grey messages when 2 (or more) characters text. the ones that say “seen”, “CHARACTER liked this messages” or just simply the time. I was wondering how they do that. I am eager to use it in my stories. Is it a coding line or is it overlays? and if it is how do they make it/ do it. If any of you know how, please let me know. Already huge thank you for being there!
I do something like that in my story i us the Narrator speech bubble without a name.
like this
NARRATER
Some thing idk
Here’s an example of what you do:
Don’t forget to pick a background first!
set format phonetext
@CHARACTERWHOISRESPONDING left [This characters messages will be grey.]
@MC right [This characters messages will be blue.]
CHARACTERWHOISRESPONDING
Whatever you want their message to say, goes here.
MC
Whatever you want their reply to say, goes here.
And so on.
Thank you so much Rayna, I already know how to code like the texting scene’s. (But still thank you for reminding me) By any change do you know how to code the like light grey messages that say "seen"and such. I see some authors use those.
Oeh that’s an idea thank you so much!
Aha that makes sence. Thank you so much for helping me!

I’ve found that in the phonetext format, using the narrator boxes make for great “seen” messages. You can even make them bold or coloured etc.
For example:
MC
How are you?
NARRATOR
Seen at 11:30am
etc !
That is what i said.

You use narration bubbles, like the first reply said ![]()
Thank you all for replying!!

I know people are saying to use narrator for the seen message, but using that leaves you stuck with the very visible white box around the message. Which tends to look like another message.
But text overlays look like this: ![]()
How do you make those overlays? It might seem really weird question but how do you like time code it with the messages?
I added it so that it would show up a few moments after her reply. And I created it by turning the Drum Set overlay into text.
This was the code I used: ![]()
YOU
Not especially.
I was about to head to bed.
@pause for 0.5
&overlay DRUM SET create text |color:white, bold| Read 21:27
&overlay DRUM SET scales to 1.400 1.400
&overlay DRUM SET shifts to 216 275 in zone 1 in 0
&overlay DRUM SET to layer 2
&overlay DRUM SET opacity 0.6 in 0.5
@pause for 1.2
NOAH
His response would go here.
And so on.
This helps so much thank you! im gonna try it.
What white box around the message?
Last time I used the narrator box it came up as another grey message [like Noah’s, in my screenshot].
But I just literally went to code it and screenshot, so that I could show you what happened the last time I tried. But this time it’s working as normal?! So, I don’t know what the hell happened previously.

@Lizan.Z Nevermind, the narrator box works normally again.
