We read a story and class. One thing I took from it was. “It’s easy to go up the lifestyle ladder, but very hard coming down” meaning; if we make it a normal to have all of these luxury things that we don’t need, (ex: phones, TVs, fossil fuels, etc.) we are going to suffer.

Also: I’m reading a the first book in a series called The Testing.
About The Testing
It’s about this girl from the future on Earth. They had a phase in their past called the Seven Stages. It’s basically how the world fell apart.
She now lives in what they call a colony (one of the 18 colonies, her’s is named 5 lakes) Where people have no phones, most have no TV, paper is rare, only certain people have electricity, cars are rare, all plants are GMOs, etc.. Basically, everything we call “necessities” are no longer available.
Now, their leaders are selected not by the people, but by a process called “The Testing” which basically picks the top graduating high school students. Those students go through extreme tests to weeds out the weak; to ensure their leaders don’t make the same mistakes the ones in history leaders of our time did.
And it’s scary reading it, not because of the actual text, but because what’s in the book could very well happen in our near future. I mean if you read what I wrote about the book, you can see, it could definitely happen!!!
