There’s more than one kind of Asian!

My question is, why do some people think that Asians are only Chinese people? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: The amount of times someone has mistaken me for being Chinese when I HAVE told them I’m Filipino is :expressionless::neutral_face::neutral_face:

Yeah, she also has that right too and she can correct you. So good day to you too.

You were taught wrong. Freedom of speech or no: it’s not okay to say something is a fact when it’s not. That’s called lying and that’s bad.

Wtf? Europe and Asia aren’t called “Eurasia,” last time I checked… Right? :joy:

They’re split by a series of mountains and rivers! Interesting ACTUAL fact: there are two countries that are split between the continents and one city that is:

Russia and Turkey are both in Asia and Europe

Istanbul has a bridge connecting Asia to Europe

I know, sometimes I just can’t be asked to explain again and eventually say I am Chinese just to shut them up.

Prove them wrong by doing a DNA test. Then they’ll be quiet. I’ve been there too. Not pretty.

Eurasia is… interesting. It’s used in prehistory for the large land mass and in loads of Orwellian-style dystopians where Europe and Asia join forces

Apparently DNA tests don’t tell you what Asia is, though, so what’s the point?

That sounds so cool! I’ve never heard of Eurasia until now.

Right! I just had to explain to someone that Indians are Asians :woman_facepalming:

I just say “not that kind of Asian” when my Japanese friends get called Chinese.

I’m learning Japanese and people always do a really racist impression of mandarin when I tell them. I just give them a thin smile and start speaking in Japanese to prove a point

That’s because it’s not a real continent

I don’t like when people spread lies on my educational thread.

Isn’t it just some parts of Europe and Asia combined?

It’s the whole massive land mass without places like the British Isles, Japan the Philippenes and Cyprus because they’re islands. If we’re only considering the land mass, they don’t count

Ah I see.

I have a question  Since Kurdistan isn’t a country anymore, would it be an Asian country? (I’m aware I sound stupid right now!)
