Thank you, Zay!
Kind of, but only because I figured it out by chatting on discord. So first:
“Spouse of the wizard king” immediately stuck out to me but I wasn’t sure what it meant that Alys said spouse instead of wife (or husband).
Then today we were talking about book 3 POV characters. I remembered that it’s Ala Haddin and her friend who isn’t an LI. So I thought at first it was maybe the person who had a relationship with the magical intersex person bc I remembered Spiegel saying that was a “past relationship.” Initially I had assumed that meant a current character who had a relationship in their past but then!
I remembered the person who was the partner of the magical intersex person was a guy right as Spiegel said the magical intersex relationship didn’t involve the big 4 ships and we’d find out more in book 2. BOOK 2!!! Then I realised a) we’re finding out info about WK in book 2 and b) “past relationship” means the entire relationship took place in the past (say for example 1000 years ago). Then i realised that is why Alys would have said spouse of the Wizard King - because the spouse doesn’t have a distinct, binary gender. Hence the magical intersex relationship.
Also Spiegel straight up ignored me saying this so I’m p sure I’m right
Rude. I’m not ignoring ![]()
I just can’t comment on affairs of the Wizard King.
I’m coming for all your ships, Spiegel
I’d tell you to keep you flowery hands off my ships but you took really good care of Vesper and I appreciate it.
So, just KEEP YOUR FLOWERY HANDS OFF MY PLOT
A hint here, a hint there, I don’t think you’ll put it together and then BAM. I gotta stop talking to you people.
Now, that you talk about it.

That’s a whole new definition of past ![]()
That’s a really interesting input ![]()
I think it’s really likely to be the case
Can’t a shadow use a gender neutral term just 'cause in this day and age? The bias, I swear
