You kid, but I do actually have a fantasy romcom WIP about a vampire MC working at a magical creature matchmaking agency and use it to riff on some of my most hated fantasy and romance tropes.

Interestingly, Rosebridge isn’t listed on the steel carriage price list, which suggests it’s quite far away. This means we may get a Quest™️ since we won’t be only at Blackwood. I think we’ll get hit with a heavy dose of fate in book 2, since Sleeping Beauty relies on it so much. Like, both the princess falling to sleep and being rescued are determined by fate. The prince is in the right place at the right time since when the 100 years is up, the briar around the castle magically~ disappears and all that’s left is flowers, which he can pass through. But if there is a quest, it may indeed be partly about being in the right place at the right time.
So I wonder how much saving in book 2 is just fate and whether the other elements of magic will play a bigger a role. No doubt there’s a lot of magic and secrets hidden away at Blackwood, but I’ve got some thoughts I want to think through before I get them out.

Yeah, Spiegel more or less indicated that it can appear in the mortal realm within its specific mirror(s) more or less whenever it wants, though must come to do Nylora’s bidding whenever she wants, but has access to other realms more easily. But since the Mirror revealed itself to Jasper, and Jasper was dreaming and is a lil magical baby, the Mirror can reach out to him in his head and warn him. Interestingly, though, it may be only in certain circumstances - which again, may be tied to fate - because it didn’t reach out to Vera at all while she was in the bunker and trying to find a way to get it.
I am curious about the Mirror’s origins, though. It’s possible she’s had it for generations. But I almost think it belonged to Real Nylora and Parasite Nylora confiscated it, possibly even used its knowledge to manipulate Real Nylora into giving up her heart. 
There’s no emoji to accurately represent the face I just made. But I stand by the other Thieves being secondary love interests, but they’re just a foil for Jasper. Very underdeveloped and one dimensional. They see that Vera is Not Like Other Girls™️ (Herk) and instantly fall for her while she’s pining over Jasper, who has done the whole “I’ll never be good enough for you” schtick and left her for 20 chapters after they bang. The Thieves will be Nice Guys™️ and Vera will lead them on and they’ll get really jealous because she’s still pining for Jasper. Then Nylora will kidnap Vera and Jasper will show up and rescue her, saying “Only I can kidnap Vera” and then they kiss. Flash forward to a wedding and babies. Bonus chapter of Jasper being a controlling, asshole Dad.

The rest of the storyline was the same as when I chose all the options to convince Alys. But this is just FYI. I’m not really worried about it

I must add that Vera fleed from home because of the abuses of her mother and see herself without options but to accept Jasper’s help

That’s what I’m thinking. I feel like Vera needs a physical object (enchanted of course) to function like a telephone between the two realms, same as most people trying to contact Mirror; Jasper is special, but even he needed to be dreaming.
And Alys is her betrothed and probably the least asshole, but was also absolutely never a romance option at all and Vera thinks he just isn’t exciting enough for her in the end.
But of course! What is a fantasy trending story MC without either (a) orphan trope or (b) abusive caretaker trope

It’s Jasper pinning Vera to the wall in an underground alleyway with one of his hands positioned uncomfortably close to being able to snap her neck while Vera looks terrified and confused despite being able to kick his ass because he just brings out the submissive side of her
