Things in stories that make you NOT want to finish

Okay, here we go.

  1. I’m not sure where the story promises love interests of both genders. The description only specifies “choose gender + cc”. choose gender meaning you can choose the gender of the mc. As far as I’ve seen, her responses to asks have been mostly that you can choose not to flirt back to/romance the girls flirting with you, which is true. And also, the story is only 4 chapters, and there are plenty of male characters who could be love interests. I’ve seen dozens of stories that promise LGBT love interests but they don’t show up until 5+ chapters in, or even where the LGBT love interests haven’t been introduced yet, and no one complains.
  2. Some of the fanmail she got is pretty rude? Also, just in general, getting spammed with asks complaining about females flirting with you is super annoying, and I’m sure she got really tired of it. There are literally so many fanmail that just say “um I’m straight and why do these girls keep flirting with me”, and I’ve never seen people complain about the reverse, even though the vast majority of episode stories, even those with female love interests, feature male characters coming on strong. So yeah, I can understand her being rude.
  3. Listen, I’ll agree to disagree on my first two points, they’re whatever, but I really take issue with the whole “How do you expect people to respect your choice of lifestyle when you can’t even respect otherr people’s” comment is where I have to draw the line. First of all, being gay (or bi, pan, etc.) is not a choice, so miss me with this “choice of lifestyle”. Second, the idea that LGBT+ have to be nice in order for straight people to accept our sexuality is ridiculous. I 100% respect people to respect my sexuality regardless of their personal feelings about me. If someone’s attitude is “I wasn’t a homophobe but an LGBT+ person was mean to me so now I don’t support the gays anymore” than they were a homophobe in the first place. You shoudln’t have to be nice to not be discriminated against. I don’t know how else to say this
  4. “Your comment was no better than a homophobes comment” My comment held no institutional/historical power. No one has ever been bullied/threatened/jailed/killed/excluded/etc for being heterosexual. My comment simply doesn’t have the same power as a homophobic one. No heterosexual is persecuted for being a heterosexual, other than gays making harmless jokes on the internet. My comment is going to harm anyone.
No offense, but as a lesbian, you can pry making harmless jokes about heterosexuals in order to cope with being surrounded by homophobia and heteronormativity all the time from my cold dead hands.

That’s all. As for what makes me want to not finish stories, consistently distractingly bad grammar and glaringly unrealistic dialogue are up there!
