Now when I’m talking to my friend and I’m like “oh! You chose a different path than me! What happened to your character?!” And it turns out to be the same outcome as mine it will now be known as elsied… “we got elsied…” make it seem like our choices matter when they dont. :’(
HAHA aw snap, looks like we’ve been elsie’d again!

Yeah, I think as long as there are at least responses, it’ll be more interactive and less frustrating.
Sometimes I just don’t have a way to get in a choice that actually matters in the first couple of scenes in a story, but I know that some readers lose interest if you don’t put in a choice early enough, so I occasionally Elsie people with the first choice or two in my chapters
Hey, I mean there’s nothing wrong with Elsieing people every once in a while. You’ve gotta do what you gotta do.

Haha. This is a thing now
Same!! What if I do not like any of them? To be honest though, I am not a fan of love triangles to begin with
Neither am I that’s why I want one of them to say no sorry you played me long enough and leave them.
I’m the same as you, if I’m too invested in the story and something embarrassing happens I literally look away from the screen and tap for a minute so the event has passed
U need a mix choices tht matter and choices tht dont. I dont like stories with a “do u wanna kiss this person” i pick no and they kiss us. And if u give me the option to tell someone somthing important dont make MC retract it. U need choices tht matter(its a choose ur story app not wattpadd)(no ofensse to ppl who use it or the app) and choices tht dont(wat do u wanna eat/what store do u wanna go in etc). Also i think doing all these choices and having 1 ending or ignoring the choice of the readers by making the MC choose do the oppisite of what ppl picked is not good writing(unless ur doing like an abuse story where ur trying to make a lesson and positive impact)
Lss: u need a mix of choices tht are signifigant(personality/dating/etc…) and “insignifigant” choices so ppl arent pressured with every single thing(dressing/fav food/etc…)
I really don’t like it when Authors don’t add punctuation at the end of there sentences. Not because I think its lazy it’s just apart of grammar rules. I can take the spelling mistakes if and only if English isn’t your first language.
As for choices, if you want to include choices that don’t matter make sure you include choices that do matter or just don’t ass any of them at all solely because choices are what makes episode episode.
Character customization is up to you. It is your story after all, but I hate creating every family member, it is a waste time especially since in most stories the family members rarely even matter. I would use the script that lets the reader create the main character while specific features (like skin and hair color) between the MC and the family are being changed as well. This avoids having to create multiple family members.
If you are an author and you are a crime to these common things that make people stop reading your story (I know I am:grimacing:) Than I would recommend rereading your story BEFORE you publish them. As well as keeping these pointers in the back of your head while writing.
Ok, so I see this topic like every day and I never posted anything, because I could never really pin point what made me quit a story…
UNTIL TODAY
If I see you panning to zone 3 and then your characters start popping in, one by one, I’m out.
There’s a contest winner that has the characters show up on the screen in the first scene, one by freaking one🤦♀️ There wasn’t even that many of them. The story was fine, but the directing was… ???
Hahaha! I must not have read that one. And honestly, I’m probably being a little over the top because if it’s only one scene, I can get passed it. But if it’s happening all the time I seriously can’t bring myself to finish
I’m reviewing stories and someone had every new character with a line, even the insignificant ones introduced for a second where they appear on a black screen after their first sentence and tells us who they are. That was the ONLY problem with the story but it made it hard to continue. Other then that they did a good job but if I wasn’t reviewing the story I probably wouldn’t have finished it
Aww poor thing, hoped they fixed it
I have to agree. Immediately I see intros like that, I exited and touch that story again
The same thing happened to me!
I was reading a story and decided to follow the writer on Instagram, she asked which character we liked better and I said the MC but I also said that i didn’t like how she made the MC look like a downgrade as compared to the wicked girl who was against her in every way. I asked if we could make the character look how we wanted them to because I wasn’t fascinated by the MC’s nose.
And I guess that was on me but what she said back to me…I couldn’t read any of her stories without thinking of how badly she was capable of insulting her own readers.
She said “I don’t no why your talking about MY characters nose, your limelight characters nose looks like a big blob. No offense.”
I don’t finish stories with poor grammar or terrible story plots like a good example of that is falling in love with the school bad boy and being the schools top nerd, a good plot would behaving a bad boy who is a total player and the nerd (who is also a BOY) ohaving a distant crush on this player, afterward the player slowly realizing that he doesn’t have much of any taste in women. Or even better he realizes that he’s better off being Bi. Perfect coming out story. But that’s my opinion.
Yesss… in one story they wanted me to customize my BFF’s love interest!
As if I care!
I want to customize me, my baeee, and maybe my best friend/
