Things in stories that make you NOT want to finish

Oh, I don’t think he’s untouchable. I’m all for the freedom of speech. And I certainly don’t think that it detracts from someone’s knowledge, I suppose I should have clarified in my reply.
I’m just tired of seeing it. I used to be on the ‘making fun of Trump’ bandwagon, but, it just got… so stale… Everyone and their mother makes Trump hate jokes. They’re not funny anymore. Just boring and repetitive, in my opinion.
But, we probably live in different states, and see different things. I live in CA, the state that considered becoming its own country after Trump won, so…

I mean, I definitely get it. I’m from England, but I’m currently in CT for a job (some University stuff). People do love to criticise Trump and it does get really old pretty quickly. I do see a lot of people making sweeping statements about “SJWs” and lack of knowledge, too, though. “The rise of the alt-right” and all. I definitely agree with you, but I didn’t agree with the comment you agreed with, haha!

In my case, it’s bad grammar (I’m okay with instances of awkwardness but I can’t stand consistent mistakes and absence of full stops) and lots of unnecessary cursing or people being mean to each other without any reason.
Apart from that, I find it hard to get through introductions where nothing happens and the character is just standing still in the middle of the screen. I’m somewhat pulled off by really bad directing (wrong layering/sizing, broken zooms etc.)
But I’m trying to give a chance to every story I start to read, even the stories with my pet peeves that I’ve just listed.

Hi all. I noticed that this thread is getting a bit off topic. If you would like to discuss opinions on America’s current president please create a separate topic for it. Thanks.

For some reason, the absence of punctuation bothers me. Like, for me, a story can have perfect grammar, but if there’s no punctuation, I have to check out.

So, I once read a story in which a friend of MC was “me”. I mean, the author let me customise that friend, like she was me. “Ok”, I said. And I made her look like me and named her like me, to see what happens. 2 chapters later I saw that “my character” saw a boy and immediately said “oh my gawd, hes so hawt, i luv him”. I was really disappointed, because I will never do that thing. That made me immediately stop reading that story. I really hate seeing a character which is supposed to be “me”, doing stuff that I hate.
Another thing about customisation: I read some stories, in which I could change the hairstyle and hair color in every episode. And I felt no connection with that character, because it was unrealistic. Like: today she has short blond hair, tomorrow she has black long hair, the day after she has medium brown. Ok, I understand about lipstick, but the hair is really unnecesar.

I know what you mean. Sometimes, I customize a character to look like me and then that character goes and does things that I personally can’t stand. Now I just invent different characters when the story lets me customize because you never know what weird things the character you’re playing as might do in a story.
And yes, the hair! Some stories lets you change the hair texture, color, and length in every single episode. That’s not even realistic.

I usually don’t change anything, to be more realistic. I think it’s more… funny.

I know right, it is the women’s choice to keep the baby or not, of course it is upsetting, but at the end of the day it isn’t your baby, nor your body nor your life, so stop judging people.

I don’t want this topic to go the wrong direction, but what’s wrong with abortion, I honestly find it an upsetting situation, but my best friend got raped and she CHOSE to not keep the baby, and that’s what it’s like for many other pregnant women, in this society you shouldn’t look down onto them. Especially when it just a fetus I think you should be able to abort, but an actual living baby you shouldn’t as it puts the mother at risk and her child. But of course society will deem them as bad people, how are they? There are so much different factors, and who chooses who is bad and who is good? Lack of regard for human life? Do you think they all want to kill their children, no! It takes alot of thinking but at the end of the day it is the mother who chooses because it is her body, not yours!

Hi folks. Please make sure to stay on topic and play nice. Thanks!

I hope I don’t come across as rude, but just because you accept abortion or dislike Trump doesn’t mean that you have bad grammar and spelling. Just saying.

Guys if you continue to be off topic this thread will be closed! Please discuss abortions and trump somewhere else!

As soon as I see something about a bad boy or pregnancy, I leave. Especially terrible grammar, that makes the story look like it was written by a third-grader. And I’m sick of writers glorifying abusive relationships, gang stories (HATE “Chain Reaction”), and teacher-student relationships.

There is a particular story that is interesting, but it’s a shame because it has bad grammer and the story is like, extremely short. Like, 200 lines of code each episode. You’re probably wondering what it is. It is The Heat Inside. No offence.

No diversity at all . Like seriously , is it that fucking hard to add a character with a skin tone other than tan or light ?
When the story drags to be point where it’s boring and becomes predicting.

One of the things that make me not want to finish is either when the plot is getting boring & dragging out.
That was one of my big problems with the classic version of Real Hollywood.

I agree lol I’m a new author and my episodes are longer than 10 minutes . Definitely not too short
