Way too many LIs definitly ruin it for me because I’m a player who would prefer no LIs and a better story than a thousand LIs. It just makes it a bit confusing, and takes away from the story for sure.
yes there is so many stories. there force romance into them. when the stories goes like there is a seriel killer after you maybe focus on that insted of the bad boy there who you have a crush on,
I hate when a non romace story is more romance than the acutal genre its in
Like college of eternity I actually like this story its under fantasy but its mostly MC been in her love square, that is not why I am here, I dont care about the romance, I am here for the magic school
Mature themes (romantic crap) are an instant turn-off for me
I just want to say thank you for the feedback! I’m a new writer and this helps me a lot, lol.

YESS I HATE THAT! Most “Drama” and “Comedy” stories are just the same “Falling For The ____” stories
Ok, so I’m making this story right now where the MC is quirky and shy but I have these flags in the script that if the reader picks a certain choice the MC can become more confident or less confident. I also have two love interests in the story where they are what you call the stereotypical “bad boy” and “perfect jock”. I’m thinking of adding why they became those stereotypes
Speaking of long narration, in the beginning of the story I have something like that but it’s used to introduce the history of the world that the story takes place in. Would you be uninterested still?
For me it’s long introductions and they have be customizing the whole family💀
You should never dump a whole lot of exposition/information on the reader all at once, especially at the very beginning.
For one, the start is your one chance to really grab your reader. It’s like an audition. You want to show them what your story is going to be, not all about the setting or who the character is. Give them a taste of what you can do. Hook them with the plot, or at least the genre. Bring them in, without overloading them.
For another, info dumps are almost always skimmed anyway, and then the reader gets confused and BOOM, you’ve lost them. Sprinkle important information through the story as its needed. If you MUST drop a ton of exposition, introduce it in interesting ways, not through a wall of narrative text. Show, don’t tell. Show these things about this world. Have something have happened to a character in relation to the info. If need be, have two characters discuss it. Its much more engaging than a long series of narration.
Finally, its important to keep in mind that backstory is largely for you, the author. Readers don’t need or want a ton of backstory or history, they want to get to the point: your story, and what’s happening now. Cut any history that’s not essential for the reader. It can be disappointing to not show off your work, but it’s important for YOU to know everything, so no matter what comes up in the plot you know how it relates to your world and your characters. It’s not essential your readers know every detail.
So, in conclusion:
Yes, I would still be uninterested, unless only the most essential information is introduced, preferably introduced as needed and spread throughout the story and NOT all dropped at the very beginning, and told in dynamic ways.
You never, ever want to info dump. It’s just going to end up skipped, and likely, so will your story.
Thank you! I really needed this. It’s my first time writing an Episode story, and I really want it to be good.
Same, it’s harder than it looks. That’s for sure!

Feel free to ask me any other general writing questions. I cant like, be your editor (I do it professionally so I cant offer that kind of stuff for free), but I’ve studied creative writing off and on for twentyish years now, and I can definitely share writing tips. It’s all novel-based, but most of it translates to Episode writing, too.
Also, good luck! Writing your first is really exciting.
I really thought it was going to be a breeze. But, no- hours of coding here I come!

I decided to publish my first Episode for a contest ONE WEEK before the deadline. Literally all I did was code, eat, sleep, and walk to the gas station for massive amounts of caffiene. Good luck!
Thanks, I’ll need it. I’m going to be studying Playwriting, so I though it would be fun to write a story like this
Sounds about right…
and thank you

This is a great way to practice playwriting! Do you use Scrivener?
No, what is it?
Its writing software. It has a section thats like a word processor, but it’s also a great organizational tool, keeping track of notes or research, it can help you storyboard or brainstorm, keep track of goals. A lot of screenwriters use it. It IS 40 dollars so I only recommend it for serious writers, but if you’re going to study playwriting, it’s an incredibly useful tool.
Also could be helpful for keeping track of commonly-used codes in your Episode without needing to track it down again.
Oh and what are you guy’s story’s, I would love to check them out!
