Things that turn you away from stories

YES - I hate when authors include some irrelevant plot twist, like an unexpected pregnancy, amnesia, or the MC just like… leaves… for no reason and years later the LI finds the MC and they get married like-- huh?

I think authors just do this when they’ve run out of ideas and want to make more episodes that aren’t necessary whatsoever :skull:

When there are over 5 characters I need to customize before reading.

  • Lack of punctuation and poor spelling/grammar
  • Bad directing
  • Glorifying abuse
  • Student-teacher relationships - this is disgusting.
  • “Falling in love with my stepbrother” - wth?
  • Pregnancy stories - BYE.
  • Wolf/vampire stories - they’re not really my thing

there are more but I’m lazy lol

Just a question, do you mean pregnancies in stories entirely or stories about pregnancy? because the wording confuses me.

Both. I think she means both, we all mean both. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :no_mouth:

Hmm

-when a story uses attempt ra*e as a small plot line or to introduce a Li.

-when a Li tries to force mc to report her rapist/abuser.

-when the grammar is trash.

-when any stereotypes r used (racist, homophobic)

-when someone scatters sensitive subjects everywhere for no given reason :eyes:

-when mc is all shy n annoying :eyes:

-when Li pushes mc against wall n acts all jerky n like a complete a**.

• When the description contains these words i don’t even bother to read :
“devilishly handsome”
“hot”
“dark secrets”
“resist him”
“mafia heir”
“gang leader”
“Irish/Italian/Spanish/American/Russian mafia” like i just can’t

• The scene of the sexual assault of the MC in the creepy alley and the LI comes to the rescue

• The famous mean girl who tells the MC to stay away from her man (while they’re not even together, like girl??) or else she will pay. It’s so ridiculous and that’s piss me off.

• The annoying ex-bitch who always comes back into the LI’s life to sabotage his relationship with our MC. Ah and we must not forget that she always comes back pregnant and that the LI is the father (even though he hasn’t slept with her for 2 years). Like make it sense.

• Unnecessary drama, or too much drama during each episode. I know that a relationship always has its ups and downs, but sometimes some writers overdo the drama and I stop reading.

• When love interests are brothers or best friends. Idk if I’m the only one but it makes me very uneasy :skull:. It’s hard enough when our love interests are strangers, but when they are relatives? The worst thing i swear.

• “bad bitch” MCs, who are nothing but toxic and aggressive people for absolutely no reason to everyone.

• Lack of punctuation is my worst enemy.

• Authors Who Write Like This. What Is The Problem Guys? :pensive:

• When the MC is always jumping to conclusions, doesn’t listen to the love interest and doesn’t even try to recognize his faults. How it annoys me so much to often see that it’s the LI who has to apologize, and always feel guilty when he didn’t do anything wrong.

• I can’t take any more of these stories about vampires or werewolves. The age gap bothers me and they are often controlling and extremely jealous…it’s not hot at all. ://

• Misrepresentations, racial stereotypes, etc…

Anyway i think that’s all :kissing_closed_eyes: :v:t5:

Exactly  I saw this happen in what used to be one of my favourite stories and I left it. Like the MC had a trust issues but that is no reason to be a b- tch especially to the guy who has put up with all of your sh-t.

I really don’t like super long or sometimes even just long episodes because a lot of the time I have the attention span of a spoon so unless I get hooked in the (at most?) first 10 minutes of the first episode then I’m outtt  :grimacing:

Same!I know it’s not easy to rebuilt trust, but when someone has been patient with you from the beginning, share your concerns with them in order to make your relationship work. Not running away, or being rude to him ://

Yeah the MC got upset that he spent time with one of his friends that is a girl from when he was a kid. He is very naive and didn’t know the girl was trying to flirt with him. But the MC subtly accuse him of cheating then goes out flirts with other guys. But then he feels bad like he was a bad boyfriend and she made him feel like that.

Right? And don’t get me started on the fact that she’ll always go find a “rebound” in a bar and then regret her decision. That’s what you get when you like to jump to conclusions

  • I honestly don’t like stories where I’m playing as myself. I prefer to read a story where I’m reading as the MC, but the main character IS a character- not just me, cause that tends to make behaviors just copy-and-paste.
  • I also don’t like when stories are obviously meeting all the checkmarks for what an episode story should have- like a comic-relief best friend ( I don’t mind funny side characters, but MAKE THEM DIFFERENT and I won’t mind ahhah), the MC having a strict parent (I don’t mind this all the time, but make the parents a little different from other episode parents LOL), and things along those lines
  • When the overlays/ BGS/ transitions are bright colors- idk it just feels tacky- WITH PEACE AND LOVE
  • When a story has too many mini-games. Sometimes it feels like I’m just doing mini-game after mini-game
  • episodes that teach you something about magic in their story or something but it takes up a whole episode. (like a whole 1000 lines covering how the magic works- I feel like it should be a little condensed LOL)
