I’ll try to explain the best I can:
First, if you are going to use spot directing - use it throughout your scene. Basic directing like “enters from left to screen left” will enter the character at full size (1.280) which looks really odd on most backgrounds.
Second, try setting up your scene like this (all numbers will be made up and I will be using BACKGROUND, OVERLAY and CHARACTER1,2,3 as placeholders in this example):
INT. BACKGROUND - DAY with OVERLAY
&zoom reset and cut to zone 1
&overlay OVERLAY shifts to 0 0 in zone 1 and overlay OVERLAY scales to 1.000 1.000 and overlay OVERLAY to layer 2 and overlay OVERLAY opacity 1
&CHARACTER1 spot 0.500 -10 0 in zone 1 and CHARACTER1 faces right and CHARACTER1 moves to layer -1
&CHARACTER2 spot 0.510 -10 0 in zone 1 and CHARACTER2 faces right and CHARACTER2 moves to layer 0
&CHARACTER3 spot 0.500 -10 0 in zone 1 and CHARACTER3 faces right and CHARACTER3 moves to layer 1
@transition fade in black in 2
@CHARACTER1 walks to spot 0.500 115 0 in zone 1 in 3 and CHARACTER2 walks to spot 0.510 125 0 in zone 1 in 2.5 and CHARACTER3 walks to spot 0.500 135 in zone 1 in 3.3
&CHARACTER1 spot 0.500 125 50 in zone 1 and CHARACTER1 starts transition_stand_to_sit and CHARACTER2 spot 0.510 123 45 in zone 1 and CHARACTER2 starts transition_stand_to_sit and CHARACTER3 spot 0.500 140 30 in zone 1 and CHARACTER3 starts transition_stand_to_sit
@pause for 1
&CHARACTER1 starts idle_sit_neutral_loop and CHARACTER2 starts idle_sit_anklescrossed_neutral_loop and CHARACTER3 starts idle_sit_serious_loop
Explained: You need to use spot directing throughout to ensure the character stays at the correct size to fit into the background.
As you can also read - each “transition_stand_to_sit” has a different spot direction (x y axis) numbers - this is because the animation itself moves the characters because the ‘anchor point’ of the animation is still set at the spot they walked to – SO you need to adjust their spots to keep them where you want them and at the size you want them.
And finally at the end of the sitting animation - I added a 1 second pause (roughly the amount of time that the animation takes to complete) and then gave them all idle_sit animations -this just keeps it from looking like they’ve all frozen on their seats - gives them ‘life’ if you will lol
Let me know if you need anything broken down further. I also recommend checking out Joseph Evans Episode Tutorials on YouTube - they are fantastic at explaining and showing the code plus previews of how things should look in the portal.
Ok i will try that
I also noticed that you are trying to write on your phone. It’s really hard
I recommend writing on your computer/laptop but if you can write only on your phone try using previewer directly on the app to spot direct your characters and overlays and write down the coordinations. Write everything in your phone notes and copy and paste it on the portal. It’s time consuming unfortunately.
I didn’t even realize that - I could never
I applaud anyone with enough dedication to code on their phones/tablets. I would forever be messing up ![]()
I ca’nt i dont have a computer
What why i messing up its roo hard
I admit that I tried coding on my phone and it was a nightmare ![]()
This is where you access previewing your story on the app and where the spot directing is. You can also adjust zooms and other things there.
Can you help me with the magic ot how to made my storry look better
I know i put the spot on the character and it be wrong
