Yes I got the idea from a film and I wanted to keep the persons name but it’s still written with some of my own ideas and plot is different from the film. I didn’t know a character name would be such a big problem, I don’t know if I should change the name then

I don’t know what other names to use that sounds masculine and powerful like John Connor

I get that, it can be inspired by the film but you can’t use someone’s creation. I say you should change the name.

I’m only warning you since you could potentially loose your story if a reader has seen the film and reports your story for copyright (:

There’s loads of names. You can literally use random names from generators that you can find online. Ideas (Basic) = James, Oliver, Leo, Oscar, River, Theodore etc… Last Names = Rivers/Riviera, Singala, Treelo, Probola, Freso etc…

Feel free to ask for more ideas (:

Your welcome, you just have to be careful when it comes to contributing to industries like literature/music/film or arts since copyright is often spoke about due to how often it is found to be breeched/violated (:

@M_H_C_Episode i have a question what they mean no drug or more in story on rule because some people have that and then they said swige like imagine someone want to do swige for a kid for there story

I mean you can still be inspired by something and write about it but use different characters instead

As long as you are not using their original characters, personalities, backgrounds etc…(Obviously if they have a sweet character in the film, you can still have a sweet character since that’s a common trait but you can’t have a character with the same past/background as any in the film you are using as inspiration)

What I mean by the above is that if a character in the original film had been cheated on, fell in ‘love’, cheated on again, fell into a downward spiral (cliche ik but just an example) etc…Your character couldn’t then go and have the exact same past journey (dates/actions/plot twists etc…)

It’s not just about being stitched up. It’s about following the rules in the first place so no one has the opportunity to ‘stitch u up’. If you do make a mistake by violating a guideline then you are supposed to learn from it and correct your mistake by tweaking your story to follow the guidelines.
