Thoughts about this story idea?

Hi! So I am co-writing two stories (in the process of), but I have always been the one to think about new story ideas often. Specifically, this one I have been thinking about for years, but I probably won’t actually end up writing for a while. I might start, but not publish it since I’m busy with co-writing the two other stories.
Anyways, the story idea is this:
Laureline Jackson is a twenty-seven-year-old editor for a small company in New York City. She likes to think just because she has escaped her old life it won’t come back to haunt her, but little does she know it will. The past Laureline was an amazing police detective who solved every single case that came her way, except one. That one case made her lose it all and quit, leaving and creating the Laureline now. What happens when everything comes back to her and she has to force the past Laureline to come out again?
That doesn’t really make any sense I know, but basically the story has to do with the main character being a police detective and dealing with a really complicated crime that has to do with her.
This definitely would be a mystery story! Even if you don’t like mystery stories, I would love if you could let me know your thoughts about this idea!
Please no hate. Please don’t steal this idea. I have had this idea for a very, very long time. Just leave some constructive criticism. treat people with kindness xx
EDIT: I have decided that the title of this story is Serendipity.

I like it. I have some questions though. Wouldn’t some people try to look for Laureline if she just up and left? Does she have a different identity? Did she have a background check done on her before she became an editor in NYC?

Thank you! x
Okay, so I know it doesn’t seem very clear and I think I should make this edit in the summary, but basically Laureline resigns and then leaves and moves to NYC. Her identity is the same and yes, she did have a background check before getting the job.
The basis is that once she leaves her job as police detective, she just keeps it in the past and that’s what I meant in the summary as “past Laureline” and the “now Laureline” is her being an editor in NYC.

Is there any sub genres involved like horror, thriller, or drama? Will choices matter?

I mean I haven’t really gone too deep in thought, but I think some choices will matter and there will definitely be a lot of action and drama.
