Haha, that’s so true. Originally, I wanted to use them but… >.<
It’d be nice to have albino characters that don’t look terrible.
I have never seen albino characters… only one is a picture my biology book. Never seen one again
Yeah, we aren’t represented a lot in Episode and the media.
it’s sad because they would be really cool to add I’m looking for more information on albino people to add in my story because I think that they are beautifull
Thank you.
That’s very sweet to say.
It’s even more irritating when Full Round lips go on characters that…somehow have, but not another race who ACTUALLY have these features (but either have Eurocentric features in their stories instead, ASSUMING if they even have diversity in the first place.)
But features I dislike overall is the Button Nose for males. That’s like the first thing I see in every Epi cover. No nose looks like that wtf lol.
I’m also not a fan of the Upturned and Elven noses too. I feel like they’re beyond overused and used on characters’ whose ethnicities typically centralize on, you know, ACTUAL other ethnic features. It’s hard to shade someone who has Classic lips on the only black woman in their story, but Full Round and Upturned Feline for every other white characters.
It’s so boring using the same features too, like do authors not get tired over it lol. Especially in Limelight where there’s more ethnic features than Ink. Like come on, now.
I love Upturned Feline eyes, but the overusage is what kinda ruins it for me lol
Thank you! ![]()
So true. ![]()
I’ve seen the Mature eyes on the BFFs in recent Featured Stories (like Friends or Lovers and A Little More Me) and thought I was the only one who noticed the pattern
Even harder when “self avatars” of people irl DO NOT look like that at all. I’m not gonna drop names, but popular authors HAVE tried this and I tried so hard not to cry/lose my shit
I don’t wanna be mean, and no need to, cuz other people have already done the job lmfao
It’s annoying! People who actually are born with those features usually get insulted. Trust me, I have multiple of times and it’s messed up they imitate it.
I once saw a story that literally had every white female character you could find with full round lips and the only two black females there were in the story had the thinnest lips you could choose on INK.
Not saying this couldn’t be the case in some situations, but it just seems like a joke to me.
That’s so unrealistic.
And messed up.
If I had a dollar for each time I’ve seen THESE exact features in the same order for literally MULTIPLE characters in Episode stories…I’d definitely have money to spend by now
I just cringed.
Exactly, and most of those authors I mentioned are known to be colorist and racist too. (won’t say names, but if you know, you know). Insults towards them are pretty minor compared to what black, South Asian and Asian women get thrown at every day. No girl should hate themselves for beautiful features they have.
Off topic:
Coming from someone who can definitely (and been mistaken) for white, the overused features in Ink stories don’t even look right, even on a white avatar. Olive (NOT a tan, ffs, and people keep thinking that olive skintones are darker, they’re not lol) skin tones suck in Ink: Olive isn’t even completely accurate to my own skintone irl, but it’s the closest I can get without whitewashing or doing what’s basically blackface/brownface. And I’m pretty pasty for your average South Asian.
I’m not saying there AREN’T white or non-black women with features such as actual plump lips. There’s nothing INHERENTLY wrong with using these features, like Full Round lips on white characters. But when your stories have POC not having features they naturally have or assigned Eurocentric features instead (Upturned or Elven noses lol), then that’s when it becomes problematic. I know someone is going to try coming at me with this argument, which is why I want to clarify this now.
Back on topic, since I went off in a tangent: there are certain features I DO like that aren’t usually picked out in most stories. They look better too, which is why my subconscious almost makes these characters alike to each other, or when authors give me the option to CC anyone.
For Ink:
I love the Roman and Refined nose for males, Grecian and Roman (closest to my nose irl) for women, and Almond Classic/Downturned Bold/Almond Luxe. I think the Upturned Bold is kinda overused and boring. For men’s eyes, I like Round Piercing and Gentle Almond most, as well as Stoic Almond. They honestly look so much better visually too imo.
I personally like all the wide noses for both Ink and LL. So nice and big.
